A Peek Into My Mind. Be Afraid.
They have, apparently, fixed the issue with Classic format, and I can read my text submissions again. So I've switched back to Classic, which hurts my eyes less, literally and otherwise.

If you are using Modern, if you click on the gear at upper right, and click on account settings in the dropdown menu, you'll find it under "Account Personalization" in the second group, specifically in "site layout/theme." You'll see a note that Classic is not being supported. If you're using "Classic," look in one of the drop down menus at upper right for "Account Personalization."
