However I want to talk more about Garfield, so I will duplicate this post here.
I should say a bit more about Garfield and Friends
You’d expect it to be just some cheap TV show, but take a look at how alive it is. This is something that only hand-drawn animation can achieve, created by someone who loves their work. Some shots are clearly drawn using video reference. I might be wrong, but the show really looks like it was animated on cels. There’s something warm and homey about it, something that makes you want to come back to it. And I can’t even call it totally nostalgia, because I only watched this series as an adult. I did meet Garfield as a kid, sure, but through… the movies with Bill Murray
The absolute peak of what I love about this series are the specials. Of course, I’ll soon be forcing everyone I know to watch the Christmas special because it’s wonderful, but one of my favorite animated films ever is Garfield on the Town. If you know anything about that orange fat cat, just watch it
I also want to separately mention Garfield Gets Real. A lot of people don’t like it, and honestly I get why, But I really love the world the creators built. Comic-strip actors for whom this is literally a job, comic technology, the logic of their universe, it’s incredibly creative. In that light, The Garfield Movie feels even more disappointing

I like to talk about Doctor Who. I use to watch it but stop watching after series 9. Things in the writing just started to bug me and this was before the bigger complaints came in after Peter Capaldi left. I do genuinely love talking about the show thou. I have tons of books just on the production of the show in both the classic and modern era of the show. I wanted to make YouTube videos about the show and reviewing individual episodes, but life really got in my way.
