Transform Fiction: Pilot — Looking for Submissions! OPEN

General
Transform Fiction: Pilot
"Transform Fiction" will be a digital magazine inspired by classic pulp science fiction. For the pilot, we aim to test the idea by creating an anthology of submitted stories from (furry) writers that feature transformation of all kinds — Anthro TF, TFTG, gender TF, pooltoy, inanimate, etc — written in all kinds of prose, such as: speculative fiction, character dramas, smutty escapades, horror, and so forth! The Transform Fiction pilot will be a compilation of (likely) six stories into a free digital magazine .pdf format. Given the feedback received so far, starting small gives us a chance to test the project and give an example of what we'd like to achieve in future.
Submissions
Transform Fiction is open for submissions! Currently — as this first edition of Transform Fiction is a pilot — we are only accepting stories of 5,000 words or less. If you would like to have your story featured in the first edition of our magazine, please refer to the information below:
• You can only submit stories that you, yourself the author, have written. We will only accept one submission per author, per round. If the pilot is successful, there will be more opportunities to submit stories for future magazines.
• The story must strictly involve some kind of transformation within the plot or sub-plot. Be imaginative and expressive in how you depict this! "Transformation" is defined as: a (drastic) change in physical appearance and/or form.
• Only fiction will be accepted (no non-fiction) and stories should not include political and religious commentary, excessive violence, and/or extreme content [see additional details below].
• Fanfiction is not allowed. Please only write original characters (which may include self-inserts/sonas) that belong to you, or that you have permission to use.
• Stories should be well-written and convenient to format in black and white for on-screen reading (no images).
• Submissions do not have to be new and written specifically for Transform Fiction — we accept already posted stories as long as they do not feature in a previous publication (e.g., a short story collection, anthology, or novel).
• Adult content (NSFW) is allowed but any smut must be foremost porn-with-plot.
• The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is strictly forbidden, nothing deemed to be written or "assisted" by GenAI will be accepted.
Please submit your story file as an email attachment — the file must be in an editable format (.RTF or .DOCX) ideally formatted with the Shunn format (e.g., https://www.shunn.net/format/story/ ) but do not include any personal details. Make sure to include within your email: (1) your author/display name; (2) story title; (3) word count [5000 words or less]; (4) content warnings (if appropriate), and; (5) a one-to-two sentence summary of what the story entails — knowing the crux will help us divvy stories between editors.
Send submissions to: transform.fiction@outlook.com
All submissions will be reviewed by our editors to ensure a sufficient baseline quality, i.e., grammatically coherent and without distracting spelling mistakes. Decisions by editors to reject submissions are final. We only accept stories written in English at this time. Transform Fiction is organised as a project to share the work of furry creators, we do not offer payment for accepted submissions.
As this is the pilot, we're aiming to publish six stories. We are unsure of how popular Transform Fiction will be — i.e., how many authors would like to submit something — so we may have to reject a lot of submissions this first time. The pilot magazine is a learning experience and also a chance to gather data/feedback. Please work with us and give the benefit of the doubt — we're all new to this : )
Additional Details
"Author" means you, the person who submits a written fiction to Transform Fiction.
"Transform Fiction" means us, the people (aka the editorial team) handling and/or publishing the written fiction.
Submission Process Overview
(1) The author sends a story via email as an editable .RTF or .DOCX file attachment (as described above).
(2) The story file is checked by the editorial team to verify content/length/quality; if there are a lot of story submissions, the editorial team will choose a selection (likely to be six) to publish.
(3) Authors are notified whether their submission was successful.
(4) Editors will format submitted (and selected) stories for publication, including possible edits to fix grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. Prior to publication, authors will view the publication-ready version to verify. Transform Fiction will work with authors and thus is it necessary for authors to be responsive over email s editors may have questions/feedback/files to review.
(5) All submitted stories are collated into the magazine
(6) Publication of the submitted stories
Terms of Service
• To submit a story to Transform Fiction, regardless of story content, the author must be 18 years or older. They must be the person who authored the story they are submitting. At this time, stories cannot be submitted on behalf of another person. Plagiarism is not tolerated.
• Any and all characters portrayed within a situation in a story deemed sexual (i.e., meant to be read for sexual gratification) must be consenting adults over the age of 18. This is at the editors discretion.
• Fanfiction or, specifically, writing intellectual property that you do not have permission to use, is forbidden. Characters in the story must be fictional and must be original. The story should not contain real-life people and/or the characters they use to represent themselves (i.e., fursonas) without written permission.
• Small edits and minor corrections may be made by editors to the submitted work (e.g., to fix grammatical errors or spelling mistakes). These will be communicated and checked with the author prior to publication. We expect authors to respond in a timely manner to emails during the expecting four-to-eight weeks of editorial. Specifically, we expect authors to respond within three working days (unless notified) to emails from Transform Fiction.
• All rights to the submitted fiction are retained by the author. The submitted fiction may have been uploaded previously (e.g., to the author's FurAffinity profile) but cannot have featured in a previously published anthology, short story collection, novel, etc.,
• The content of the submission is at the discretion of Transform Fiction. Transform Fiction has the right to reject at submission, specifically (but not exhaustively) if: the submitter is under the age of 18; the submission contains inappropriate themes [e.g.,] glorification of violence, non-consenting adults in sexual situation (rape), incest and intrafamily, excessively dark horror, etc., Themes considered 'triggering' are unlikely to be published.
• Prior to publication, no submissions will be shared with anyone outside our editorial staff. Individual work will be treated as confidential material. Submitted files accepted for publication will be stored to enable editing/formatting and privately archived. Submitted files not accepted for publication will be deleted after review.
The Editorial Team
For the pilot, the following 'staff' members of Transform Fiction are volunteering their time for the proof-of-concept. If the pilot proves successful, we're hoping to grow the team.
Zen — https://www.furaffinity.net/user/zen~
Marquis Orias — https://www.furaffinity.net/user/gr.....dmarquisorias/
Nall — https://www.furaffinity.net/user/azimuth/
Final Remarks
If you have any questions about anything here, please send over an email or drop a comment below. Given the amount of feedback we've got on this project so far, we're all really excited to see where it goes. This initial pilot proof-of-concept is going to be (admittedly) a little scrappy with the aims of ascertaining: (1) community interest; (2) the workload it'll take to run a magazine, and; (3) further feedback on the project to produce something the community can get behind. Thanks so much for all your support!

I also uploaded them in 2K word segments here so I might have to combine the first two I uploaded, but I can kind of drag a plot event back on for while (just check the Abnormality corp I did years ago.)
