It Just Gets Worse

My Aortic Stenosis showed my aortic valve wasn't as bad as they thought, BUT I have two arteries that are blocked and nearly blocked. Very diseased, they said. That means open-heart surgery to replace the arteries with a vein from my leg. My lung disease makes this a bit more complicated, as if that was needed. I could be out of commission from a month to 3 months, and as usual I have no financial cushion to get me through it. This has me very worried.

Have you spoken with the hospital's financial department at all? Most are willing to work with you to figure out costs and help you apply to any financial aid programs you may be eligible for to help get you through the surgery and recovery.
