Updates on things

Been a few weeks so I figured it's high time for an update! There's good news, bad news, and neutral news ahead, so everyone get comfy
First the good news: job is going quite well! I've gotten right back into the groove of everything, I like all my coworkers so far (both the ones who were there with me before and the new ones) and basically all of the changes that were made while I was gone have been positive
My first *actual* paycheck won't be arriving until after New Year's, though, because of the weird pay cycle schedule. So that part is less amazing. Hopefully the first check will have some of the holiday pay I'm about to accrue in it, at least!
Some more good news is that I'm further along in the fundraising goal than it actually seems, just looking at the GFM page, because I've gotten some donations directly to me outside of the site itself. Some of which have been *very* generous. I know some truly wonderful people
But, while I'm doing well with paying off a lot of smaller urgent bills, I'm still falling short of the ultimate goal: catching up on the mortgage. And on top of that, I have discovered something new that I'll have to deal with...
The attic of this house has, over the years, fallen prey repeatedly to infestations. Primarily raccoons, but apparently there have been some rodent problems too. I just had someone out here to assess the damage and, apparently, pretty much all of the insulation is ruined
I'm not going to tell you how much the estimate to fix everything was, I'll simply say that it was more than twice what I'd feared it might be. Fortunately, they do have a finance plan for it. Unfortunately, that means I need to bump up my credit score a fair bit...
So what does this mean for my GFM goal? Ultimately, not too much. I'm still committed to making this my last GFM for a while, if not my last one ever, and I'm not changing the donation goal.
I want to be able to take care of this myself, as much as possible. So I'm going to focus on the credit score improvements as well as the more pressing issue of the mortgage situation. I can see the path forward, and I'm working as hard as I can on it
So all I'm going to do is just keep posting the link, ask for people to spread the word, and keep you all updated as best as possible

As ever and always, I'm thankful to each and every one of you for the help you've given, through donations, signal boosts, or even just kind words and likes. Thank you. And if you are the Christmas celebrating kind, I hope you have a very merry one indeed <3

Rodent-soiled insulation isn't something you need to deal with on any urgent timeline. It's not doing any harm just sitting up there being dirty, it's only really an issue if you want to actually go up there for some reason (like you're storing stuff or doing repairs or home improvements or whatever). Don't feel pressured into replacing it right away if it's not in the budget. Just deal with sealing up the entry points that the critters are using and put the insulation replacement on your to-do-eventually list.

^ This, quite a bit. You'll want to address it *eventually*, but it's not a critical problem.

I feel you with the paycheck wonkyness. I'm glad you've been able to catch up on some small bills. Hopefully that mortgage becomes a little more manageable here soon.

Good to know you're slowly getting through this mess. Hope things settle down soon and this attic problem can be resolved.
