2025 recap and new years resloutions for 2026

Hi there everyone it's me Thundefair since where close to the new year i want take sometime to type out my though and feelings of 2025 and set my goals for 2026 I don't tend to meet my resolutions but I like to do it anyways so I got a set direction on what I want to try do through out the year, so let's get this started
2025 hasn't been the best year for me it's honestly been a hard year went thorough a lot, star of the year was ruff I had recently lost both my gran and my cat last year, so was pretty heavy, did my best to go visit my grandpa and try to help out my family, which let me being on another hiatus, considering money trouble was focus on apply for benefits to help my family get by, honestly was exhausting then my mum passed away around about may then my grandpa followed her a few months after it was a heavy blow losing my mum and put alot of things in motion i had to help my dad with legal matters to help handle my brothers benefits, suddenly having alot more responsibility was hard but i truck on through, luckily I made progress and eventually got all my and my brothers benefits sorted so we are living stable for now, which is a wait of my chest and i can get back to my art, so that why I been posting some art at the end of the year and hopefully 2026 will be filled with regular art again
apart from family stuff there also be alot online drama with things like company pressuring big names into getting rid of nsfw content and Ai generation making a major splash, allot of places where effected like patron, PayPal, itch which is a big hub for indie game developers, so alot of policy changes happen last and this year, then if that wasn't anoth oh boy my country the uk decided to kick all us in the rear with there new age verification for online use act, apparently to "protect the children" as they put it but it's just a way to control what we see on the internet yes we need protection for kids on the internet but they way they went about it is so bluddy wrong i could vent about for ages honestly what happen about not putting private details on the internet now they want online id's implemented good way to get your identy stolen more like, online verification methods are well though out and doesn't work for everyone, so thanks to that act i was block from seeing any of my nsfw content on steam, twitter, bluesky itch and discord, so yea the thing is bullshit no wonder vpn use went up significantly after that act was issued cause people don't want to give there details online, ehat more the types of id identifications aren't full proof, there face age verification which doesn't work unless you look your age or look sigifactly older for people like me with a baby face the thing thinks i am a teen and blocks access I'm 26 I am entitled to my nsfw content and i will have it damit , you can verify with a credit card but not everyone going to have one yes most people probably do but not me so can't do that so i can't buy nsfw stuff on steam anymore joys cause that the only age verification they bloody except fuck and i went to the trouble of getting myself id but can't use it cause the stuff scan thing some of these age verification just use can't pic stuff up bloody right so yea fuck this new act either fix the whole id thing or get rid of it cause i had anoth so for now for sites effected i am having to use vpn luckily i manage get manually verified on discord and twitter was easy anoth to fix but for the others I have to use vpn sadly vpn does not work on steam so yea screw, so yea if your from the uk you probably understand my pain, i feel liek were all getting punish just because parents can't keep there kids form looking at adult sites and probably kids are smart anoth to get around these thing s or eventually will so this all seems pointless and just messing up peoples lives especially horny furries like me that look at nsfw content daily, if any other country start doing the same just letting you know be prepared and we feel your pain if you don't have vpn i advice getting it just in case it's useful
then come generated ai i going to be frank yes is horrible for artist as an artist i don't like that it exist but sadly ai is a thing and it's going to stay ai is usful for alot of things so id on't hate ai but i do hate ai generated images i prefer art made by real artist but i not going to judge or hate people for using it cause i can understand why people turn to it and it does take people putting the effort in to learning how to use it to get anything good out of it ye sit's alot cheaper to us eit than com an artist sadly that's a fact ai should never replace peoples jobs but sadly that happens but i don't think artist will be replaced totally we still need people ai has it's limits and i believe the furry art community will survive this crisis, using ai for personal use or making things easier is fine i even so some artist use it to help refine there work or use as a reference which is fine learning about the competition is better than just rejecting it, though I would never com someone that uses ai generation i com an actually artist cause it's there job, as a inspiring artist that wants to make this my full time job some day i will work hard to improve my art and earn a good anoth a following that i can get comms that a goal i set every year and that hasn't change i won't let ai generation get me down and to be honesty my work not good anoth for id training anyways so not worried so i am likely not leaving twitter even with there stupid new policy probably keep posting my work there if i do get comms i will ask the person option if it's ok to post it there or not though i have already migrated from DeviantArt to furaffinity due to ai before but let's be honest I got a following there on twitter i be foolish to abandon it now i just be hurting myself again like i did the last time I will be careful at least when it comes to posting on twitter form now on
I think that's all the major things that have happen in this year for me but not completely sure writing this while sleep deprived was a bad idea but started this and wanted to finish it before bed i can always just edit later if I need to
Any now onto the new years resolutions for myself this coming 2026
- I want to expand my skills as an artist and expand what i can draw going to focus on experiment on things like new body type and poses as well as try to expand on what stuff I draw i know for Pokémon fan art and furry art so i want o focus on drawing more monster like Digimon plus draw more variety of furry species I usually draw canines and my sonas i needing to try draw more scalies like dragon and other animals like horses, ferrets, etc
- Make a commission sheet and reopen commission hopefully that will be soon
- draw more art of my sona's and oc i got a backlog of oc's i haven't draw yet so wanting to feature each of them in future works might do some redesigns, also got some other character ideas i wanna create
- i wanna be active more i started swimming again so wanting to focus on my healthy and loss some weight and get into a healthier life still so i can have more energy to do things like drawing
- want to be more social i like making friends and taking to people so going to try and get back into contact with olds, trying to interact with groups on discord and telegram maybe event try spending more time in vr chat i am alot more social than i use to be but still want to work on it
- wanting to revive my discord server and try to be actively posting on all my accounts i been pretty much just being a ghost the last few years i need to really put effort back into being active
- focus on working on some projects, i got a few projects i want to work on so i can announce them later in the year or the end of next year depends on how long it takes for my other goals
and that's my resolutions for 2026 if i think of anymore i can add them later or do it with my happy new years post
as always these are just goals i don't need to complete them or beat myself up for not doing all of them from last year most simple goal anyone can have is just working on improving themselves and being the best them they can be and that's what i try to do each year
