-- DEVIANTART -- WEASYL -- SOFURRY -- TWITTER -- BLUESKY -- TL;DR: Car repairs suck, total cost is as it says in title, will need to make roughly 3k to account for taxes, though not needed immediately unlike the actual cost of the repairs. Plan is to sell originals, offer commission work, offer to sponsor completion of sketch people want finished, maybe sell HD files???? Bad timing all around. :/
---
Okay so, as the title says, the car repairs I just did cost about $2270 rounded to the nearest 10 dollars. So a little worse than I was hoping, but that is at least including the taxes where prior the taxes hadn't been calculated.
Here is the only thing. based on my last pay check, I am keeping about 75% of my more standard income, which means in order to offset the taxes I will eventually need to pay as I try to sell art to make up for some of the difference in pay from work to help pay for the car repairs. I would need to make roughly $3000. Ugh. That is a lot, but thankfully I don't have to make that much prior to when I need to pay the bill on the credit card I used to pay for the repairs themselves. Just the $2270 in the more immediate sense and then the $3000 prior to when I will eventually need to make an estimated tax payment. (Which isn't until April, thankfully).
The Plan
So the immediate plan as listed in the prior journal is to basically take commission work, and sell the remaining originals (details below). If there isn't that much interest in commissions, I will try to make more art to sell as originals.
A sort in between to commissions, is that I have several sketches that are unfinished that I would offer to have people sponsor to finish at a reduced cost to a normal commission. The sponsoring person would get the original if they so desired, they would just need to pay for shipping on top of the cost of completion.
I am not really sure what else there is I can offer, if people have ideas, would be appreciated. But this isn't really like digital art in the strictest sense, so doing alts to pieces is far more time consuming.
Selling Remaining Originals as Best Offer
So as this says, in order to sell the remaining originals I have posted in my gallery, I am going to just sell them on the terms of Best Offer instead of their listed price. You'd just need to pay or the shipping fee on top of the cost of the original.
-> I am willing to sell any individual piece for as low as $100, any of the paired pieces that have alts I am willing to sell for $150
-> You may put an offer an as many pieces as you want. I don't have the luxury to really "be considerate" of others who might want an original.
-> People will have 24 hours to respond to your offer if you are not offering the original listed price I had original set for them. (I know this is like auctioning, and not everyone will like that, but honestly, these have been sitting up for a hot minute, and I need the money, obviously.)
I think that covers everything for this.
Commission Plans
I want to make an actual commission form, but I have two commissions I am finishing up right now, and that I need to figure out how I want to do commission pricing, because I feel like I have low balled myself for a while now. I know I am not on the level of some of my friends and others, but I am also working with traditional media, which gives you the ability to have the physical final piece of art that you commissioned, All I ask for you to pay shipping (depending on the cost of the pieces, which I will figure out a threshold on, because international shipping from the US is stupidly expensive.)
I want to start using real invoices. We will see if this ends up being the case.
I know in the previous journal at least one person showed interest, and I have a list of other people who have reached out previously that I also need to reach out to.
I am hoping to work on this on New Year's day because I will be off from work, and then with any luck have things figured out by Friday/Saturday.
Sponsored Completions
As I said, I have several things I have previously sketched out that I would like to complete eventually that if people are willing to sponsor their completion, it would effectively be a middle ground for commissions if people really want to see something specific finished. And they would be finished at a reduced cost, but the pieces would be done to the way I want to finish them, mostly, minor edits can be done cause I will have to do an initial clean up step, but they can be set to have various levels of completion, for different price tiers.
If this is something people might be interested in, I can make big collage of the sketches for people to pick from. (most of them are Pokemon fan art x3 )
I am hoping this is a viable option...I know other artists have done something like this previously.
Other Ideas
I don't know if people would be interested in buying the HD files for works that have been completed so they have something print ready. I feel there is less demand for this than there is for digital art. But it is an option I guess.
Not sure how I would price it, but I hoping people might have suggestions.

I know all of this is coming up right after the Holidays and getting posted right on New Year's Eve. It could not be worse timing to try and post this. I know money has been tight for so many people this year. SO please, please do not over extend yourself for my sake. I will figure out if I have to.
