Annual "who checks journals" journal
Happy New Years everyone, I'm planning on making 2026 a year of art for me. Much more posts, more long form content, and work on the backlog of characters I keep telling myself to debut. but to get into the nitty-gritty:
Restructuring
I'll be restructuring my profiles and such since I haven't updated most in years. most of January will be spent fixing up pricing and such along with my do's/don'ts. Prices will be going up as my standards have changed, and I'm planning on doing more sketched and colored comics as I feel like their quality and speed are much better than my inked comms. It'll be sort of a test drive for a bit and I may switch back to inked depending on how they go. Additionally, my preferences have pivoted from what they were years ago and I fear a lot of people still see me in my old light. I will still be doing TF and such but I enjoy more than just that. A rough topic will be pokemon content after the policy from not too long ago. While I'm not stopping pokemon content as a whole, I don't feel comfortable risking NSFW content anymore. I feel as though its a bit of a wake up call and that I need to sort of move on from it and do my own work. I still have some pokemon content elsewhere and I have a comic planned but while I feel I started out as a "pokemon TF artist" I would like to slowly abandon that exclusivity.
Sketching over Inking
I've found my sketches to be a bit more preferable to inking. Line-weight has always been a weird concept to me and I feel as though refining sketch lines offer more depth than spending hours keeping my ink lines consistent. So for a bit, my "finished" art is gonna be in sketch lines over inked, and similarly for comics once I get into the mix of things.
One-Shot Intros
So I love character design and making complex stories for said characters and not doing ANYTHING with them afterwards. one of my biggest halts when making new characters is my fear I'm never gonna use them again but at this point i kinda feel like I should sort of embrace that. Hence, one shot intros, which will be short psuedo-ref sheets for characters I don't have full plans for. Characters may appear as background characters or may get personal pieces, just depends on reception and such.
Bsky
I do have a BlueSky at https://bsky.app/profile/upliftart.bsky.social that I've been posting to. I do a lot more raffles and such there, and while I plan to cross-post a bit more, Smaller sketches will often only appear there so I would appreciate a follow if you want to see more.
Hope to see more of you this year and I plan to impress!

I've definitely flip-flopped on inking/sketching, some years i inked more, others i preferred sketching more. i think it's good you are focusing on what feels good for now!
As for Pokemon NSFW, what do you feel you are 'risking'? Has something happened that makes NSFW pokemon art not tenable or risky?
It was definitely something under the old mods' ruling, but hella understand the hesitation now...
While I'd like to say "Im sure it wouldnt be an issue again" Iiii cannot know that for sure, especially if you had to deal with a strike or mark against your account for any possible violations, youd be right to err on avoiding it, so I feel you and respect that decision 100%.
