Hey fellow FA Artists, Writers, Crafters, Photographers, Cartoonists, Poets and dreamers.
Just a little poke here to let you all know I'm still alive. I'm doing okay so far but I'm currently facing some health concerns that are troubling. I'm working with a Neurologist to get to the root of my walking difficulties, and he's suggesting that I might have to go into the hospital for a spinal tap to help remove excess fluid in my brain. Now don't panic. The doctor assures me that the procedure is far less painful than depicted in the popular media, so I hope the discomfort I felt when they took samples from my shoulder and lower, left leg will be the worst of it. The doctor even laughed when I mentioned that I hoped the pain wouldn't go "Up to 11."
All this hoopla about the US President wanting to "Buy" Greenland has generated a response from the Danish who consider Greenland a territory, that they want to buy the state of California. To tell you folks the truth, I know it's all in fun, but I feel if my beloved state ends up under the Danish flag, I might consider moving to Solvang. The main reason is because I never got to really enjoy exploring that little community when my friends and I arrived there after a five-hour drive in slow traffic, and I only got to explore ONE shop. To me, that was like only getting one nice image from a Mars probe, and seeing something interesting, and then the probe suddenly ceases to function. Well... Not quite. There are no bakeries or charming cafes on Mars as far as I know.
My "Jedi" friends and I decided to visit Brookhurst Hobbies in nearby Garden Grove as we had a little extra time before our meeting, and I knew exactly what I wanted to get, but I only had about a half hour to shop. I didn't find the re-release of Tom Daniel's "Red Baron" model kit that I wanted, but I was happy to see they had that Mobius Ford 350 4X4 tow truck that I wanted to get the last time we visited that location. All I can say is that it's a BIG KIT with a lot of parts and a great representation of a modern tow truck with the back deck, boom, winches and power transfer gear nicely represented. Mainly, it's a great kit to build right out of the box, but it could also stand a little bit of extra detailing. For one, the overhead cab marker lights and the "DOT" lights on the wrecker body are nicely represented in chrome but would look better with transparent lenses.
It's going to be a while before I can take on any model building projects because I need to convert the upstairs bedroom into a hobby room, mainly because that's where all my hobby stuff is stashed, and the recent rainstorms revealed several leaks in the ceiling and walls. To add to the misery a couple months ago a rodent chewed through a main electrical line, and more than half the house is without power. We have an electrician who has offered to fix the problem, but Noah and I need to "Prep" the house so they can get around with their ladders and punch holes in the walls to repair the problem. So I have ben considering trying to find new quarters or at least finding someplace else to stay until after the repairs are done.
So maybe moving to Solvang might not be a bad idea, but it still will be a very expensive change of locale.
"Peace."

I too want to move out where I live badly, but finding work isn't easy so in these dark times, I'm keeping myself busy with my writing projects, drawing and reading away my massive book collection. And throwing some movies on TV series to watch.
Tracy and I used to like to visit Solvang. We always found it to be a lovely little town. At one point we were musing about moving there. A big reason we didn't pursue the idea is that there are no hospitals in the area, and that's a real problem for us older kids.
-You still collecting Hot Wheels?
I do know of Solvang, it looks cute. Looks like something you might see in Jylland. Maybe some people there might speak the language? Not sure what the numbers would be for something like a former immigrant town today.
That whole buying thing is just funsies. We had big protests in the capital very recently about all that.
And good luck on your state joining Denmark!
I have more models in boxes waiting to be built than I think I have time left to build them.. At least if I don't purchase any more. The main issue is where to display or put them after they're built. Also just found a box of carefully packaged models in my store room from years ago. What to do with them. Le sigh..
Good luck with the electrical issues. Gotta love rodents and the damage they cause..
My walking difficulties were easier to diagnose. I have some serious spinal problems (stenosis, scoliosis, a bunch of other problems) and my knees have been shot for years, due to breaking both kneecaps more than 45 years ago and when I had Lyme disease (I was an early case!) a few years later it settled in there.
Grew up with kids books in Norwegian. Haven't spoken it since mom died in 2003.
