Note: Momentarily Locked Out of Discord

Update: Getting closer to resolution, barring surprises should have things sorted over the weekend
Just something quick that randomly happened in the middle of using it that my Discord started fussing and wanting a phone number check (which is tied to a primary account so I can't just casually flip them like that), so while I get stuff solved since I gotta work within timeout periods, I'll probably end up pinging people thru DMs/email or even Telegram as backup; if ya wanna help me out on the Telegram front and we're already connected on Discord, toss me a DM.

FA+

Not sure why you felt it needed defending, in particular.
But it offers such fun features as a random character limit, a file size limit, a file *amount* send limit (Ten at a time), a shit UI, a laggy UI, atrocious built-in store with atrocious prices, regular audio resetting bugs for voice chat and, you know, more.
Anyway. Not here to "not defend" Discord either.
The restrictions on symbols and files are rather technical measures to optimize the operation of servers and ensure the stable operation of the platform. Many large services have similar restrictions.
Limit on the number of files (10 at a time) — this is a compromise between user convenience and server load.
The interface can really seem overloaded, especially for beginners. However, the platform offers:
Customizable themes
The ability to customize servers
Flexible notification settings
The store with its prices does raise questions, but it is an additional feature that is not mandatory to use.
Problems with sound in voice chats are a well—known problem that is being gradually solved by developers.
I'm not trying to protect him, I'm just taking note of the information I have.
It's more a weird event to me 'cuz it's not abnormal for me to send things to a couple people in a short period, but one can never tell. Between the two though, Discord is still substantially the better service in my experience, pending future inevitable enshittification
The rest, I don't know. besides the above reply to another user, I'm not wild on them bending over to the UK for private information & then having that private information just leak almost immediately.
That said, I hope your thing gets sorted and it isn't gonna turn into a whole ordeal!
As for the UK, much as I hate it it's... honestly a no-win type of thing that's come on that front; especially since they have more 'official' associations and integrations with other biz. It's sitting next to a 'comply or die' future arrangement as far as I can see on the horizon.
The rest of what you said makes sense.
IDK I just find Telegram to be much easier, less resource hungry, less laggy, less weirdly restrictive.
And that's on a pretty power plant PC, can't even imagine how it runs on a phone or tablet lol - Discord I mean.
