Quokkas are the happiest marsupials. They're so chill you can just walk up and take selfies with them sometimes. Same with another favorite, marmots. But they usually need to be bribed with a snack first.

Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) are surprisingly weird! Not only are they the only cervids where girls regularly grow antlers, but they've got blood vessels tied together to form a heat exchanger so that they can maintain their limbs at a colder temperature than their core and thus loose less heat from them, they can see into the soft ultraviolet spectrum, and their eyes change color with the seasons!

Sheep I don't really have any fun trivia, but they're just soft and cute.

Wild goats have some fun horn shapes (I like big curly ones!), but domestic goats can have a goat tower, which is fun. (...I should give my goat character a tower).

Elephants I don't have any trivia on hand, but there's aesthetically something fun about them.

My griffin character is part Blue Bird-of-Paradise, which has some fun colors and markings.

I saw a reindeer in-person recently, and I was shocked at how unusual their proportions were! They are a lot less tall than I expected, and stockier. I feel inspired to make a reindeer character soon!

Australian Lyrebirds are super cool little guys, most known for their ability to produce all sorts of funky sounds, and also for the very unique and gorgeous tails of the males.

Another versatile chatty bird is the European Starling, with the pine needle-like feathers on their necks that vibrate mesmerizingly in sync with their trills, almost like a visual representation of the sound vibration.

Love them!! Also like how the black shines to emerald colors and back.

I was lucky to see common kingfisher in nature. Tiny bright hunter!

Musk deer are an adorable fanged bunch of creatures that consists of 8 species from Moschus, the only extant genus of the family Moschidae, though they are not of true deer families, relating more closely to the Bovidae family rather than the Cervidae family.

Last one for now? Feral horses! Why? Because one of my favorite state parks and beaches has them roam free on the island after a ship got beached there. I love Maned Wolves just for the sake of their iconic legs and overall goofy nature- Also being more or less the only animal the spread the seeds of appropriately named, Wolf apple.
sadly, they're slowly becoming endangered cause of habitat loss / deforestation.

aardvarks are some of the craziest mammals! Their claws are closer to hoofs, they converged-evolved with anteaters (but are unrelated!), and they are the sole way of dissemination of the aptly named aardvark cucumber!

I like raccoon dogs! They're sooo cute and timid. You just gotta love the way they stare at you with their puppy eyes and stuff. Very curious too, they tend to come to people a lot to check up on them.

My favorite animals are orcas (and many other cetaceans), ravens, and servals! I have some other cool animal suggestions that are more obscure. Invertebrates are really underrated, especially cockroaches. There are over 4k species, and very few (1%) actually infest homes. Many cockroaches are quite ornate and beautiful. Check out beetle mimic cockroaches (I used to keep/breed the Ergaula genus). For actual coleopterans, pie dish beetles are very cool with their little concave elytra (hardened wings) margains that make them look like little fresh-baked pies!
I love marine invertebrates, too. The variety of echinoderms out there is amazing. Linckia starfish are gorgeous, long spined sea urchins, and so many more.
I collect trilobite fossils (they were an incredibly diverse of marine arthropods that emerged over 520 million years ago!!), so it makes sense that my heart is partial to invertebrates, lol.

My favorite animal is the Okapi! They are so cool and I love all their features.

I also really love the small marsupial, numbat, they are insectivores and unfortunately very endangered.

My favorite shark is the epualette shark! They are also known as the walking shark due to their ability to 'walk' from drying tidepools to deeper water!

I also really like mustelids. My favourite mustelids are pine martens and sables, but I feel like they're underappreciated little critters.

i've been obsessing over ammonites lately, and their extant relatives also come to mind quite often - nautilus and argonaut octopus. cephalopods are generally cool, but cephalopods with shells are underrated imo, especially argonauts, they have such weird lifestyle, with separated floating dicks and shells they make with their arms, it's absolute alien.
