Emerging From the Shadows

Hello everyone,
It’s been a very, very long time. I figured I should finally catch you up on what I’ve been doing in the shadows.
When I disappeared, I had just left a very toxic and abusive relationship. I was mentally and emotionally worn down, gaslit, and made to feel like I was nothing and no one. Toward the end of that time, I met someone incredible. We connected instantly online, and when we finally met in person, it was electric. If soulmates exist, he is mine.
He offered to steal me away, and I said yes. He was living the vanlife, and I left everything behind to chase something new and free. We traveled all over the US and along the East Coast, eventually spending time in Florida. Those years were full of emotional and spiritual growth, discovery, and healing.
After months on the road, we searched for somewhere to settle and finally found our permanent home.
Years later, I’m a completely different person, in the best way. I’m happier, healthier, and grounded. But during that time, I stopped drawing altogether. In my previous relationship, art was survival. I had to draw because my ex refused to work, spent his days gaming, and tore me down constantly. Somewhere along the way, I lost my passion and needed distance from it. I stepped away from the furry community and explored new creative paths with my partner.
That’s when Unnatural Selection was born. What started as a passion project for Shadowdark RPG became something far bigger than we ever expected, reaching 106k on Backerkit. After that, I was invited to take part in Pintopia, which kicked off my enamel pin journey.
First came Mimics Among Us, a toothy collection of mischievous mouthy mimics. Then Infinite and Infernal, filled with angels, demons, and epic seraphim-inspired designs. After that was Furight Night Felines, spooky Halloween cats. And now, Cats Among the Cosmos, a collection of beautiful cosmic kitties.
And now, here I am again.
I’m thinking about opening commissions and easing my way back into this space. It’s been so long that I feel like I’ve forgotten how to draw anthro animals, but I know it’ll come back. Muscle memory is a funny thing, and I’m excited to relearn, grow, and hopefully come back even stronger than before.
So yeah. Hi again. I’m back.
