My statement on GenAI and using my artworks for it.

Don’t.
While I understand someone has to use it at work because they’re forced to do it by an employer, I don’t endorse any usage of GenAI as a part of the creative process during creation of artworks in the fandom. Fandom is a place where people appreciate the imperfection of genuine human effort. It is also a time where an artist can do something for themselves as for a lot of us it’s a hobby and a “pocket money” source. A side job. I prefer to look at someone’s first attempt at simple headshots than stumble upon this AI slop.
And I can’t express even how unfair it is to the people who are artists full-time. Not just people doing stuff for fandom but also graphic designers, illustrators, UI designers and marketing-related guys.
I believe however that most of artists in the fandom are fandom artists because they just wanted to have a hobby. Which is cool because hobby is the only thing where no boss is overseeing you, no bigger pressure should be felt about it (if you’re all mentally in tact), because it is just something you do because you want to. That is what makes hobbies precious. The reward comes also through the struggle of learning and spending time on it.
To use GenAI as a vehicle to achieve that kills the entire point of a hobby. You’re doing yourself a disservice.
And if you’re one of these people who are jjst starting, having some humble beginnings - don’t be ashamed of your first attempts. Upload even the meh stuff and come back to them in a year or two. Because of this I intentionally don’t delete my older stuff. :)
I also don’t want anyone to use my pixelarts to feed the GenAI engines. Of course I can’t stop nobody from doing this because it’s the internet but I don’t want anyone to do that. Seriously, just draw something. It’s cool. I can even send you some pixelart tutorials. How about that?
Cheers,
Vindor
Btw. AI music sucks. And if you’re in a band, using AI for album covers or whatever then you’re a fucking poser :)
