Rojo UPDATES [02.09.2026]

Updates on my poor cat Rojo.
Last week he was almost dying, so the vet said he needs urgend blood transfusion. Unfortunately, we didn't have the funds, so I made a journal, a one more call for help.
Thank you everyone who supported us, again. Last Monday, Rojo started to eat food by himself! On Tuesday, we went to the hospital to make last blood tests and make a blood transfusion, though we didn't have the whole amount yet and we planned to take a debt. But, weren't able to make ANYTHING because Rojo was so sick that he hadn't any vein avaliable to take blood and put the catheter. So, we just went home to...Wait?..Rojo kept eating, so we hoped for the best. And waited until his veins gonna be filled sufficiently.
At the same time with anemia, he had 2nd issue: his belly covered by wounds, and his post-surgery scar doesn't closes well. We treated it with antibiotics and ointment until today.
Today, this Monday, February 9th, we was at the hospital again.
GOOD NEWS: with very high doses of corticosteroids, Rojo has recuperated the anemia! He's hematocrit is at 24 now. Blood transfusion now is prohibited, as there is possibility that the strange blood may make him feel worse than he has it now.
BAD NEWS: Veterinarian saw and opened his scar on the belly...Rojo has Fluid accumulation beneath the skin (also known as "seroma"). He has infection, and his wounds and the scar can't be cured BECAUSE OF the corticosteroids. Which can't be canceled, of course. We could only lower it a bit...And he was also tested to diabetes, and we had to make him the ultrasound and the swab of the liquids.
Now, I should take him to the vet every 2 days, curing the wounds, give other antibiotics, and hope that he will recuperate without causing more troubles to himself... - 300 euro today.
I know I should move on. For the Rojo and Alex, for my family. But I am so tired.

You should make a submission about this! I think it would get more attention than a journal.
That said, I'm... not really sure what to do here. I'm so invested in your cat, emotional AND financially. I don't want to see him pass away because that would be really sad, obviously. But... I don't know if I can donate anything else right now, because we actually had to take one of our own cats to the emergency vet last night and we were already burning through our savings before they suddenly started exhibiting signs of being in crisis. I don't know if I have money to spare, but I also think it would be really unfair to Rojo if I prioritized my wellbeing over his...
This sucks. It sounds like he's fixable. The only problematic component is money. And money being the deciding factor between whether someone lives or dies just isn't fair.
