someone alerted me that my art was posted by someone else.

This is the header, just read the thing -_-
a friend let me know that they saw my art on facebook, I don't use facebook so i wouldn't have known, Thank you very much for alerting me. The person that used my artwork did credit me which i guess means it's okay? but still thats kinda rude.
I decided at the end to just leave the post alone since i don't think they were intentionally trying to steal it, especially since they did put my name on it at the very least, From what ive seen typically when someone does that sort of thing its usually not due to malice, they're either very young (like a child) and don't know any better, or theyre Much older (like gen X or something) and don't know any better. Since it was on facebook, it's the latter clearly. the gen X furries understand this but if theyre NOT a furry, most likely they don't.
Obviously Commissions are a different story, if you paid for it then you're free to do whatever. but for fanart i make or other stuff. i'd reccomend asking me before posting even if you do credit, this should go for every artist since its just the polite thing to do, some people may see it as rude or worse :/
Anyway thats the end of the PSA lol, just leave a note for an artist, or comment or whatever. some are fine with reposting but you don't know until you ask.

I've done the same, used someone else's work, but credited them, neglecting to ask permission first. It's a habit one should get into.
When I'm online and notice someone post art and not credit, I usually comment and politely ask they do give the artist credit.
It's all about common courtesy. :)
