Where To Go.. >w>;;;

So, since Discord's dying, Fluxer supports GenAi and Stoat's just going to end up like Discord because it's UK-Based.. I am actually pretty lost on where the fuck I am supposed to go. I want to figure out where everyone's at since I plan to remake my Discord server on whichever IM everyone ends up on. I am almost considering Steam to be the best option since everyone's already got a Steam and Steam's slowly rolling out updates to the IM side of their launcher that makes it more like Discord so... yeah. I am currently unsure what to do. Just 50% leaning towards Steam for IM stuff. lol
Either way, all my contact info is in my profile so, whereever we end up, you guys should be able to find me.

there are alternatives that will appear for the sole reason of reaplacing discord but without the AI and ID bullshit
but ill expect atleast a month to two before trusting anything after it appears just to be sure if its possible to wait
We'll definitely wait until something more permanent pops up.
Half so there's a good chance of it getting popular if we get in the door early. Half because I've been desperately wanting more socializing, and losing Discord fucked with that even more.
But yeah, it's amazing that people trust Stoat saying they won't do it, meanwhile you know they'll fold when the absolutely insane fines are threatened.
It's real disappointing how the past few months have been so far. Like man, we lost so many decades of progress, might as well be living like the 1800's again.
It's an open source and self-hostable (if you're willing/able to go through the effort of setting it up), so you would be able to do with the data what you want (assuming you use self hosted servers; also, if your make your self hosted server public other people would be able to scrape the data (since they have access to the server and its contents); in other words, you can decide how open/closed it is).
You can even bridge discord stuff over to it (which basically means, matrix and discord will share messages; of course, if a message is shared to discord, data will be shared there).
I've heard its annoying to set up, but it seems like a good way to maintain communications without worrying about what the company that owns the service will do down the line (assuming you own your server).
