I broke my ankle >:3 so im gonna animate now >:3

General
It's true! Just 2 weeks ago. Full dislocation and 3 fractures. I had surgery to fix everything back in place last week and have been laid up recovering since. It’s not a catastrophic injury, I was told it’s a pretty typical flavor of ankle trauma and eventually I will recover fully. It is going to take a while though, several months at minimum. It will be 4 weeks (or more) until I start physical therapy to even begin trying to walk again.
In the meantime, I have chosen to see this shitty situation as some kind of an opportunity. For a very long time now I have wanted to do more personal animation projects. Some are kinda ambitious and even the simpler things will require a time that I somehow convinced myself I didn’t have. I certainly have plenty of time now.
Currently, it will be pretty difficult for me to do digital 2D work anyway, I cant access my tablet until I can climb stairs again. However, it is very possible for me to do 3D animations. And animation is something I’m not half bad at, if I do say so myself. Regardless, I can’t sit here doing no art while I wait for my ankle to un-fuck itself. I will severely lose my shit and it will be ugly.
So considering my situation, I think it’s a good time to move on from randomly posting my artwork with no clear intentions or goals and getting on with I really want. I already have some assets to start working with from projects I started and never really followed through on. For now, I’ve converted the VRChat avatar I made years ago into an animation rig and my early animation tests are very promising. There’s still plenty of work to do and things to learn but nothing I can’t work on as I go. I also have other characters already started that I can finish up relatively fast, and before long I’ll have my own little cast of horny furries to bend to my will.
---
This isn't a huge leap for me; I was previously an animation industry professional, believe it or not. I have a degree in character animation and I had a relatively solid career in broadcast and video games for about a decade. But I had to quit a few years ago due to extremely severe burnout and have hardly done much animation since, this industry is genuinely that brutal. I still want to animate, I just want to do it on my own terms now. Of course, I am only one raccoon and it will take me time and there is a limit to what I can do with that time, but I have all the skills I need to do good solid short animations; I can make decent character models, texture and rig them and absolutely I can animate them. And I have friends I can rely on to help me whenever I inevitably get stuck on something.
---
I’ll still be making the best adult anthro erotic art I can manage. It’ll just be mostly 3D animations now (and exclusively Trowzer until I have another character rig ready to deploy (soon)). I’ve already started working, and I’ll begin regularly posting loops and WIPs and clips as I progress through these projects. I also want to share some ‘behind the scenes’ stuff, progress on my assets and their features and just generally discussing my process. And as I build up my asset library and solidify my production pipeline, I plan to do some larger projects.
I also have a ton of old sketches and illustrations I never posted anywhere before that I'd finally like to share.
And here’s a promise; I will absolutely NEVER under any circumstance within my control allow any kind of “GenAI” or anything like it to take any part in my art. “AI” is not a tool I am remotely interested in, I simply enjoy the process of creating too much and staunchly refuse to touch it.
Only pure, handmade, organic furry art to be found here from tail to tip. 100% guaranteed forever.
---
I’d also like to say that I will eventually do other kinds of art including my illustrations whenever it becomes easier to manage. However, I don’t think I will be opening for commissions again for a while. My clients have all been very kind and lovely people and I feel deep gratitude toward everyone who ever paid me to do work for them (yall know who u are <3), but a vast majority of my artistic career has been focused on other people’s ideas and projects. Of course, part of that is just a consequence of being a professional artist, and in a lot of ways I do enjoy making art for others. But it also means that I’ve been neglecting my own artistic needs and goals. So at least for now, I have to be my own client.

Which brings me at last to my least favorite topic and arguably the main point of this wall of text. That is of course the financial aspect of this whole ordeal. I live in the USA and the medical bills from this little ankle malfunction of mine are already piling up and only growing. I do have health insurance through my partner so it’s not like I have no safety net at all, but it is still the American healthcare model; this is already causing us a lot of stress and financial strain to pay for my recovery. If you are someone who likes to provide direct support to artists, I could really use some right now. I already have a KoFi account where you can send a couple bucks my way and I’ve started looking into setting up some kind of subscription thing for supporting my work in the long term. Point being; if you want to give me money, I will gratefully accept and very much appreciate your support.

And in return I will deliver many animated videos of sexy furries >;3
