Too many pings for one wolf to count

Warm breath, soft hunger, and stories waiting to be told.
Heh, looks like it finally gave up counting them one by one for me.
My FurAffinity submission notifications now just summarize themselves as a numerical “it’s a lot.” Now that it’s here, I’m realizing the auto delete after six months might actually be a blessing. It keeps me from getting too attached to hoarding every single ping, which is probably healthier for my den in the long run.
That said, being flooded with notifications has made it harder to keep track of the subjects I genuinely want to engage with. New posts push past the ones I meant to revisit, and the feed turns into noise instead of a trail. So I’ll be kindly unfollowing the creators and subjects that no longer resonate with me. I want my den to feel intentional, not overwhelmed.

I'll be focused on what styles and subjects align with my current art goals and interests.
As a non-artist my notifications are on the small side.
I'm also more selective. And there are plenty that are no longer active that I still watch, I'm just too lazy to go unwatchable em. Lol.
And I just saw the mistake, the word unwatchable should be unwatch.
Below the banner on the submissions page, there’s a message that says “Any notifications older than 6 months will be automatically pruned.”
So that’s six months, not six years.
I get why it feels rough, though. Some folks like having that big stockpile for their own reasons. Memory lane, catching things they missed, or even just the comfort of watching the numbers climb.
For me, I’m taking it as a bit of a reset. I’m choosing not to let the fear of missing out run my den. If I’m sitting at 9999+ notifications in any category, I’m already missing most of them anyway. This gives me a chance to clean things up and keep my space intentional.
