Yea I got the info and there going to appraise the damage next week. But if they total the car I just dont have enough for a new one and thats the end of it.

how is the used market doing and how does your insurance handle replacement. is itr payout by worth or payout by reaquirement. Here they always want to do payout by worth of car but it is actually an option for the insurance taker to opt in for having the car replaced or get the money needed to reaquire a car of same year and make. Might it be worth shecking the fineprint there?

This is the US and for Kentucky specifically its 75% of the cars cash value. So lets say my car is worth 9k, I only get 75% of that. As for the used market anything under 10k is going to be a car that you will need to spend afew grand on to fix up and get into a good state. Many of those cars also have accidents on them so if I want anything close to the shape my car was in id need at least 15k.

Part of what makes a car worth repairing is its age. A fairly new car might be worth it, but if it’s older, the cost of repair might be more than the current value of the car. In which case the insurance company will just write you a check for the blue book value. That sucks if you’ve put a lot of money into keeping it running. Either way, the kid is liable for the cost.

I bought my Jeep new in 2016. What they will give me wont be enough to afford another and due to my debt im in plus adding my father into the mix only spells no hope.

Most of the time, if the vehicle is non-fixable, or insurance writes it off, insurance will give you money to afford a vehicle of similar, depreciated value

Yea. Thats the value of the car before the accident. Which for Kentucky is 75% of that number. Regardless its well short of whats needed to get the same car in the same condition it was in.

Well, having been rear ended three times, I can only hope yours is fixable, or you can find a good local mechanic, not a chain style and certainly not a dealer, cause they charge less and do better, more reliable work

yeah I know the feeling I got rear ended twice
1st time we we driving y moms blue explorer got hit to where the tail light got busted.
2nd Time was when someone bumped us and only went a few miles per hour if it went 60 our carolla would've been wrecked.
