fursuit makers!! a jaw question!!

General
I'm hopefully going to start working on a new head soon (I already have the upper head frame made) and I think I'm going to use a pre-made jaw set this time. I tried to make my own last time and the teeth tended to break or fall out :( This will be a badger, but a normal sized badger jaw set will be way way too small. I'm probably going to buy a bear jaw set since they seem to have a very similar mouth/teeth just in a larger size. I'm trying to decide to what size to get though (they have small, medium and large-but no actual dimensions given :/ ). What size jaws ets do you order? What company do you buy them from? ---OR do you make your own jaws/teeth? (I am trying to make this realistic as possible)

Most people suggest the wolf and coyote jawsets, since those are the two that are the most proportional to the human head in fursuit form. I'd think a bear jawset might be too large (though don't quote me on that, I've just only ever heard of the previously mentioned two being used). As for where to order, I DEFINITELY suggest VanDykes (http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/), since everyone I know orders from there, but you can find more places listed here: http://community.livejournal.com/fursuit/profile (scroll down to the "WHERE TO FIND EYES/TEETH/NOSE/CLAWS" section). :D

I love Van Dykes :3 The stuff I have gotten before was from them. I thought about getting a coyote set, they have a very nice painted one that's a good price. I just sort of wonder though, what a "small" bear would be...like a young one? or just a smallish adult? *shrugs*....I wish they listed measurements of some sort :<

Well, you could join the fursuit community I linked to and ask them. :) I'm sure someone there will have an answer, even if I don't. xD

I am part of it LOL. I need to go back to LJ, it's been AGES.

I make my own teeth, taxidermy jawsets look really heavy and there's no guarantee it'll even fit your suit head. You'd have to buy the jaws first and them build the whole suit around them, whereas if you make them you can have them any size and shape, and you can do things like have the inside of the mouth be fabric instead of heavy plastic.

OP
what do you use to make your's? I tried sculpy but two teeth broke while I was at a con :< Maybe it was just old... Do you set the teeth into "gums" or do you just attach them directly into the mouth?

Sculpey. Make sure it isn't the original white Sculpey, that stuff is very weak. Try Sculpey III or Super Sculpey. I don't set them into gums, but I also work toonier than it sounds like you're wanting to work.
