All Dogs Go to Heaven

I just watched this thing again a few days ago. Not exactly as I remembered it premiering in the theatre - in a dusty hall longsince torn to the ground, stuffed with emotional children and thrilled parents, pulled out of their civil apathy. No, it's quite good.
What caught my attention is that the tendency to burst out in song isn't as awkward as it tends to be in animated movies. The same voice-actors, not squealing off-key, guarantee a better result than all those Disney-esque family-failure parades. Regardless of that, it's probably just a bias on my part, because I think jazz soundtracks just work best nine out of ten times. (Ratatouille is another good example of this pseudo-truism.)
Pretty, traditional work isn't very common nowadays, is it? Come on, ye furries, get it together and make us some works of true beauty - future generations depend on you! They'll die if you don't deliver very soon from now! No pressure or anything.

create the right effect. I havn't seen The movie in question for a number of years so I can't really comment specifiaclly of it though I do recall the songs being mostly placed appropriately. On a final note creating large, high quality works takes huge ammounts of time and dedication so is understandable wh so few are made but the only solution I see is to take it upon ourselves to improove and with any luck eventually be able to do such things.
As for making a film of this magnitude, you'd need a group of good to exceptional artists who're all working towards the same result. That also requires some organisational talent.
Finally in response to your comments about bursting into song, I feel it music can be just as effective without directly having to influence the scene. A painful piece can really emphasize the emotion of the scene and it would hardly be appropriate for the saddened charicter to burst into song. So what I'm really saying is that when used sparingly a sung scene can improove it but this has to be complemented by good, music in the backgound at other times.
