Hey Fursuit Makers, I have a question!

First off, don't refer me to http://community.livejournal.com/fursuit/profile :p I'm purposely not asking there because I dislike the snark that just oozes in every comment.
I'm looking for some really dense upholstery foam. Denser than the green JoAnns stuff. I want to try carving a head from a block (subtractive building as opposed to the additive building I usually do). I have a feeling that getting it off the internet is going to be my only option. But all the websites I've seen just look WAAAY to sketchy. I'm not comfortable purchasing from them.
Does anyone know of a trusted place to get this. Even better, any local furs that know a good place?
