ATTENTION THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING DOMAIN NAMES FOR THEIR WEBSITES: DO NOT REGISTER WITH A COMPANY CALLED NETWORK SOLUTIONS, ALSO KNOWN AS VERISIGN.
It is a scam. The company is run very badly in order to make people's domains expire, and when they do they are sold to a mass reseller. The company then tells the owner of the domain name that they can get their name back in an auction, assigning the domain a worth in the 5-figure range.
