CHEAP COMMISSIONS! Sad Technology Death, Volunteering
16 years ago
Well, I knew it was coming for a long time, but my dear old gigantic clunky PS2 finally kicked the bucket. It still plays DVDs ok, but it won't read memory cards. At all. Ever. No matter how hard I beg. I thought about bringing it in to somewhere that could check it out and maybe fix it, but the time and money involved in that would probably be too much to commit. So, here's the question of the day:
Should I take the fast route and buy myself a slightly used slim PS2, or should I save up for a while and hold out until I can buy a PS3? I don't know anything about whether or not the PS3 is backwards compatible or what kind of specs I should go for (i.e. 60 vs 80 vs FOREVER gigs of memory), so any advice would be appreciated.
Moving on...
I'm volunteering! My school requires at least 40 hours of community service to pass into being a senior, and I've decided to fill the requirement at Bay State Equine Rescue. Go check them out on the web. They're AMAZING and I really love working with the horses, I didn't realize how much I missed just being around them. Horses have saved me from mental breakdowns multiple times.
Anyways, thanks to the crashing US economy a lot of people are having to give up their horses and we're getting a lot of new arrivals lately. We're having trouble coming up with the barn space for all of them. So, here's what I'm doing in addition to helping build stuff:
All regular commission prices are not in effect until further notice!
Instead, I will be taking donations to put toward helping construct the new barn addition at BSER! $4 out of every $5 that are donated will go to the horses. The other $1 will help cover my gas money, since it's a quarter tank of gas every time I drive there and back. So technically that goes to the horses too, since it's helping to get me out there to work :)
Every donation of $1 or more gets a full-color marker or colored pencil commission of a single character!
Every donation of $10 or more gets the single character AND two index card commissions
Every donation of $15 or more gets TWO single characters AND two index cards AND a conbadge!
Every donation of $25 or more gets everything the fifteen-dollar one gets AND a two-character commission AND a character sheet!
EVERYBODY gets the originals sent to them by mail! (there will be an additional $2 fee for international mail)
Payment Details
I will be taking PayPal donations. In the USA, for the 48 contiguous states ONLY, I will take cash. Cash must be mailed in a secure manner (for example, double envelopes, or in an envelope that you can't see the money through even when you hold it up to light).
If you're interested, please NOTE ME ON FA. In the title of your note, use the word "donation." Tell me how much you're donating, whether it's cash or PayPal, and where to send the originals if you want them. I'll send you back my PayPal e-mail or my street address. PayPal donators will get their commissions within three weeks of donation. Cash donators will get their commissions within three weeks of my receiving the money.
Depending on whether I get too many requests backed up, I might have to create a waitlist. If you're waitlisted, it just means you'll have to wait slightly longer for your reward. EVERYBODY who donates WILL get their commissions!
Once again, I ask that everyone please go check out the Bay State Equine Rescue site and read about the horses. We really want to get the barn done before the super-rainy season sets in, and definitely before the summer heat shows up!
