I'm Hearing All Kinds of Nifty Things

Thoughts from the Wolf Den
Well kids, it’s me again, and boy do I have a doozie of a story to tell. This won’t be long, so long as I don’t start a rant about it, but then again, that’s why you’re here isn’t it; a good rant? As some of you may know, I was fired from Spencers at Carolina Place Mall a few weeks ago for the following: accepting items as gifts that were damages/discards, when a vast majority of the time I didn’t know they were discards, because as a Supervisor I was not responsible for handling them. The other Supervisor did the discards because the Assistant Manager—who is SUPPOSED to do them—didn’t think it was all that important to have them done at a reasonable and responsible time. Don’t you love useless people? But then again, this is the same girl who didn’t think it was important to take empty boxes out the nights she closed because “Oh, they can do that in the morning”. It’s called your JOB. Fuckin DO it.
But I digress, I could talk about that girl in a whole separate entry. Anyhoos, I was informed that it’s being said that people got fired from Spencers for stealing. Now, while that might be technically true of the one who took the merchandise—even though she took it after the company decided it was worthless and not sellable, can the same really be said for me? I was given stuff I didn’t know was discarded. And here’s the kicker. The other girl and myself were the ONLY ones fired, and yet I was NOT the only one working there to accept offered items. There are associates working there right now who also accepted gifts, who weren’t even questioned! Can anyone else smell the bullshit here? Let’s forget how my former District Manager has pretty much been looking for a way to fire me, including going so low as to cite a rule in the handbook saying employees couldn’t work at the same store if they lived together. Unfortunately for him, there’s this thing called Ex-Post Facto: my roommate and I lived together before that was instated, not to mention I’ve been staying at my boyfriend’s for half a year now due to lack of a car. So no, we haven’t been living together. Take that, and shove it up your ass Richard.
So now back to the point here… it would seem as if someone’s been trying to find a way to get me fired, and this was their chance for doing it. If they want to be shady and underhanded I don’t care, it’s the singling me out when I wasn’t the only one that I find tasteless. On top of that, lying about my reason for being let go. Why not just come out with it: “We were trying to find a way to get rid of Daphne, but didn’t have any real reason, so this was good enough; we tried giving her shitty hours once, but that didn’t work.” And upon rereading my nifty little piece of pink paper they gave me, I found that it said that I “admitted to removing discards and damages from the store”… um, No. That’s not what I said when I wrote down my statement. I was gifted items, and I was not given these items in the store. So nice way to lie on that one to make it seem more valid. I also have a VERY strong suspicion that some people—namely the talk-your-ear-off-till-she-influences-you Assistant Manager—discriminate. I hate to pull the race card on this, but let’s look at a few things.
The other supervisor gets fired for taking discarded merchandise. Ok, that’s to be expected. I get questioned, and then fired for accepting the merchandise without knowing it was discarded previously as well as giving extra discounts to customers when they bought stuff. Now… for one thing, I was definitely not the only one in that god-forsaken store who accepted merchandise from the other Supervisor, and yet I was the only one questioned? As for the discards, I sure as hell wasn’t the 1st and only one to give out discounts, especially to help sell those stupid contest items. Ok, so there go 2 of the 3 black employees at the store. Now comes the question of who gets promoted. One was a relatively new guy who started last year Halloween. The other was a girl who’s been there for a few years—2 or 3 perhaps—who hasn’t had prior managerial training. Normally this wouldn’t make me bat an eyelash except for one thing: the 3rd black employee there—who could certainly use the additional pay and hours because she’s a mother—was not considered for promotion. What pisses me off about this is that she’s not only a manager for Spirit Halloween during the Halloween season, but she’s one of the Hiring Managers. MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE! How the fuck was she not one of the 1st choices?? Oh wait, I know the answer to that: because she’ll actually stand up to the Assistant Manager, and because she isn’t one of that girl’s “favorites”. Yes, favoritism is the key word in that store. Favoritism and Bullshit. I’m soooo glad I don’t have to deal with that... well unless I get convinced to sue them for unfair treatment and racism… I do know a few really good lawyers..

Anyways, I don't think you should play the race card on this. Because THAT'll make it worse. Not only for the store, but also for the company. I don't you want to end up on CNN. And that's the worse case scenerio. I think it's just a classic favortism thing here.
