Update on my sick gryphoness (Day 4)
Earlier in the day, Jaelyn was running a fever again. But later she was doing much better... the best I've seen her yet since she's been sick. She's eating again... not a whole lot. But she actually got hungry for the first time since this began.
She's on prescription pain killers now (like Vicodin) rather than the 4 times stronger than Morphine stuff she was on earlier.
The doctor says the only reason they're holding her in the hospital now is to wait for the results of the long test to verify that it's viral meningitis (non-life threatening) and not bacterial meningitis (scary potatoes).
So... the short test for meningitis takes 30 minutes. The long test takes 3 days.
Without treatment, bacterial meningitis will kill in 2 days. Interesting math.
So they're actually rather sure that she doesn't have the bacterial version because she doesn't exhibit its symptoms. For instance, she is not dead.
They expect to release her tomorrow morning when they get the results of the long test.
By the way, each day I've printed out the comments to these journals and read them to her. It's how I start each visit, and it's really helped her feel better. Thank you everyone.

but still.. my best wishes and prayers are still there for you and your birdy... and my story book is ready for whatever story you want me to write for you. *bows*
Get better soon! ^^
Everyone is with you and we all wish you to get better. ^^
Jaelyn, get better soon! ^^
Wow, that's pretty ridiculous. Kinda reminds me of the home headache test... which I'd link, but I can't seem to find anything :(.
you're more then welcome:)
I'm glad she has an appetite and that her fever has gone the way of the other really bad symptoms; I know it's a pain when they say 'long test' and if she had she'd be haunting you from beyond, but they also probably want to make sure that the disease was one easily controlled; don't want a relapse in 6 months because it turned out to be an antiobiotic resistant strain of soemthing.
I hope she heals quickly and pounces you once you two get home:)
Eventually this will be one of those things you can look back on while talking to others and say: "Yeah, I had viral meningitis once...but I KICKED IT'S ASS!" ^.=.^

I hope that's not what 'short test' means, though even if it is, it sounds like she's getting better drugs than I did. ;] Best gryphie-wishes! Get well soon!
But it sounds like no news is good news for once, in regards to the test and the timeline. I really hope to see a journal soon in regards to her recovery.
Hopefully, she will be out of this place soon, and go home to rest better near her lovely Dragon. };)

You're lucky to have such a caring dragon to take care of you
