As a writer and a lover of well written and thoroughly well developed stories I have to say without a doubt Final Fantasy XIII is one of the worst games i've played in a while. I'm not writing this to be a troll or anything. You like hte game and enjoy it which means its done its job and i'm happy for ya.
well i mean the character develeopment is terrible. Don't get me started o nthe poor design and dialogue. The usual argument against those accusations is to say its a JRG. Which i'm not really sure what that means. Do i have to lower my standards or something? is it so hard to make a game where the main characters don't look dead faced? Have almost no personality, and spout incredibly stupid metaphors about life and beauty? I mean that one kid hope was angry at snow becaues he blamed him for his mothers death. But its not really depicted on the kids face because he shows almost no emotion. And everyone is constantly gasping or sighing!
I saw no problem with any of the characters development other Sazh not getting as much spotlight as I'd have liked, and Snow not growing much as a character.
jRPGs often are wrote very differently from western writing styles. It's a cultural issue. If a game is more direct translation, as I've been told 13 was Dialogue will come off as awkward and unnatural. Anyway...
Exactly how far in the game are you? I never heard any stupid metaphors or talk of beauty except from Vanille, who actual has perfectly good reasons for being as awkward a character as she often comes across, especially early on.
