I like it. Right before the bill passed, I was randomly kicked off of my health insurance plan. With the new bill signed into law, not only can I go back under my mom's plan for a few years, but I will never be allowed to be kicked off again for no reason, and unlike the first time when I was shopping around for insurance, I cannot be declined for an existing condition.

I think it's a step in the right direction.

I respect your point of view, but the main reason I don't like it is that our gov't has no right at all to force a citizen to buy something he/she might not want. You violate the U.S. Constitution and you take away some of the nation's sovereignty as well as more rights that the Constitution allows. True freedom means the right for the individual to choose for ones self.

To be honest, most hospitals wouldn't treat people if they had no medical insurance anyway. So really, forcing people to buy it hasn't changed the way that part of the system works. They just made it official that it was a requirement. I'm quite alright with having health care forced on people if health care in general will improve as much as this bill claims it will.

I think the forcing to buy an insurance plan is one of the odder aspects of the plan, but I do like that you can't be denied based on a preexiting condition. I won't be the first to probably say although I'm discussing this, I'm probably not qualified to hold a viewpoint on it yet since I really don't know enough about the pro's and con's and can only speak from a semi-uninformed perspective. :P I do personally have insurance since we run our own business we obviously have to pay for it ourselves, what I wish is insurance would cost a bit less ! :)
