Hey. I have had many comments on the pics of the bears and wolves and tigers. I wanted to take a minute to tell about the Refuge we were at.
First, we got there by accident.... we missed our turn and didn't realize it until we were like 50 some miles past it! So we see a sign on the side of the road about this Animal Park. Having an animal fanatic and 3 Furries in the car (that was before I bacame one) naturally we HAD to stop. So we pull into this place that at first didn't appear to be all that much. We were greeted by one of the friendliest people I've met. She told us a bit about the park and explained the ticket options. I paid a little more so we could get the special tour and get to play with a baby tiger! After walking, or should I say wading, around the park, and taking the special tour I decided I had to make a donation. They operate pretty much on donations and have a hard time making ends meet; but that doesn't stop them from still trying to help every animal they can. (Including some of Michael Jackson's animals!) They appreciated it so much they offered to let us feed Ozzy the Bear. Which of course made Daddy's day!
We spent quite a bit of time talking with the owner and staff there. They are all wonderful people who genuinely care about each and every animal that finds its way there. They also operate on a lot of volunteer help. There is even an amazing guy there who pretty much wanted to give up on life, then he met Ozzy. Now he spends a lot of his time there. I will let you read about him if you go to the website.
Binx, myself, SpikeBlu, and Fun4MickeyMouse all plan to go back down and help out some... doing hard work around the grounds. But I think the rewards will be awesome! Knowing we are helping such wonderful creatures. And get to be so near them... maybe even get to pet them! Of course Daddy will have a hard time tearing me away from the wolves! That is if he could get away from the bears.... shhhh, don't tell him there is a new mama and baby there!
