Recent Updates - New Game Development
To fill in of my recent doings, I've been working with a new video game project, which finally doesn't involve robots and guns. Although, I honestly did enjoy designing Code, regardless of its obvious influence from Cave Story.
I'm trying my best not to spoil too much about the developing game at the moment, but those who are curious about what it is can take a look at this video Livestream recorded while I was streaming to a friend of mine: Runner - Early Footage
This is Runner, planned to be a unique combination of a brawler/beat 'em up and platformer, along with that very slight hint of RPG elements. I've been working crazy on this game, thanks to a sudden huge burst of inspiration from two days ago. It only took me about two days to get this far, but there is still much to be developed.
That being said, unfortunately this also lessens my chance to keep those Everlast updates at a more consistent and quicker pace. If Runner doesn't manage steal most of my time (it probably will), I'll be trying my best to draw those next pages of the comic series. If anyone questions Rem's current existence, it is still under development as well, but is barely gaining any progress at the very moment.
But other than that, how has everyone been doing?

and by the way, your LINK is broken :| I couldn't access the video...
The link should be fixed now.
ok... hmmmm... well, the gameplay looks fundamentally sounds, but the enemies attack is hard to recognize. Plus, enemy design and environment look rather bland and boring comparing to your Cave Story inspiration. I know you're still developing, so it just too early to tell. I hope you will strike golds in this game :3
Code does have actual tiles and details, along with not having a strange but colorful theme within its environments. I do plan in making all sorts of other colorful displays and objects to fill up the room to possibly fix that up. The environment is suppose to illustrate the mysterious but vivid moment of the main protagonist's awakening.
You seem to like 8bit style graphics, don't you?
It still reminds me a whole lot of Bonesaw; lets hope there are no annoying ball puzzles this time. >:C
Comics and games; two things I wish I knew how to make/had the patience to create.
KEEP IT UP
I'll be sure to do my best to keep things moving for progress..
Can't wait for more!
If everything works out well enough, I just might be able to release a demo very soon from now.
I used to make games often in Multimedia Fusion, but these days I don't have a lot of inspiration for such things. I made a story engine not too long ago that I was pretty satisfied with, though. It is like a program that allows you to make an interactive story with branching paths, image support and some other things, like allowing the reader to choose the name of the protagonist. I never really wrote any stories in it though, and I can't draw well, so I couldn't utilize the image support to its fullest potential.
Ah, Multimedia Fusion. I've heard a bit about the program and its massive capabilities. Lyle in Cube Sector was made using that software, if I do remember correctly.
I like its event-driven programming system. It's very intuitive and easy to do whatever you want in it. It has some flaws such as a lack of hardware acceleration (which I believe they fixed not too long ago, actually), and some miscellaneous minor bugs. Also, the inbuilt platform movement is not very good so most people end up programming their own player character's movement through events, which takes a bit of time.
I've been game designing ever since Game Maker 4 was out, when I was about 12-13. Even to this day, I've grown stuck with 5.3A, since the versions after 5.3A are major rewrites that I can't work as well with. Out of the other various game creation programs out there that I've tried out, Game Maker has managed to stand as number one in my book. I created the silliest games when I first started and it took me about a year or more to learn the basics of GML.
