And you tried resetting the modem, turning it off and back on, turning the computer off and back on. called your provider to make sure there isn't an outage? And just so I'm sure, your laptop normally connects to the modem by wifi, but connecting by ethernet instead doesn't help and your laptop is set-up to connect in both ways? Also to confirm, you're running Vista? Finally, did anything unusual happen to or near your computer, PS3, modem or router two days ago?

yes i believe so it is, i think this happened once, turns out i had to wait for a few days until it was back on.

Actually i only relied on Wireless rather than internet cable, I tried unplugging it, reconnecting and disconnecting it, I can't call my service provider at this time, the wireless settings is a bit screwed up, and once more people from the neighborhood seem to jam the signal which makes my internet slower. I wish i could configure the damn thing. Only problem is is that either something is blocking my laptop from entering the internet or it's something else, I will go figure this out in the mean time.

Sorry I'm not more help for you. Now that I think of it, your PS3 can access the Internet, so I doubt that the problem is with the modem or router. Neither your laptop's wifi chip nor ethernet port can bring the Internet in, but it's not very likely that both would fail at the same time. That leaves settings and drivers. You might try resetting the settings and re-installing the drivers.

Also, if your modem is connected to a wifi router, (rather than having its own), and you tried connecting ethernet from your laptop to the router, try connecting it directly to the modem. (You might have to unplug your PS3 to do this?) If that works, and resetting your router doesn't make it work again, it might be broken.

But if none of that works, then I have nothing left to recommend. I used to do technical support for Apple, but wifi was always my weakness. Good luck, eh?

Problem solved, I'm using The Ethernet Cable instead, which is connected to the modem so everything is okay.
