Help get an F-105 flying again!
This week, Congress will be voting on allowing an F-105 Thunderchief to be turned into private hands for restoring back to airworthy status. The group in question already flies an F-4, A-4, B-24, B-25, B-17, and UH-1 among others, but they need YOUR help to make this happen! This will be the only flying F-105 in the world, and it will be at NO cost to the US tax payer. Help give the 'Thud' pilots the recognition they deserve with their own living history!

the tech in the old f-105's is so out dated now i don't even see why there would be an issue. Hell they let an f/a-18 on the private market and that would be a bigger issue i think.

It still requires an act of congress for this to happen, they had to do the same thing when they got their F-4 and A-4. Just a bunch of red tape.

I know there was a law passed a few years back that forbids the private sale or use of military aircraft retired after a certain date without this kind of approval. It's also why you likely will never see a privately owned F-14 in the wake of her retirement.

that and the fact that they're actively scraping the airframes of the f-14's.

From my understanding, they're keeping about 15 or so mothballed in reserve.

vast majority are being destroyed though to prevent the Iranians from being able to repair theirs. How they're supposed to get parts for em from over here is beyond me

OP
Things can get misplaced. I remember reading an article shortly after the jet was retired, that somehow, someone got their hands on an F-14 recently retired with most the systems still intact, and the government had to act fast to seize it.
