It is kind of ironic, how committed the 'anti'-people are. Often, as you said, more so than they have a go at. Kind of makes me sad; just imagine what all that energy and tenacity could accomplish if it were put to a positive use.

I think it's guilt about themselves that drives them to do it, but it always backfires eventually.

"Quiet guy that turned out to be gay"
rather than the
"Anti-gay christian leader of many protests turns out to be gay"

I agree, sadly. I'm sure he will stick to his story of "he was just there to help with my luggage". I think he might have wanted to let the guy actually help with the luggage just for appearances, though. :p

Well, I don't really care if that republican guy is homosexual or not. I'm just worried about the LGBT community. Although, when I considered the possibility that that anti-gay activist guy might himself be gay, I wondered why he would be so vehemently anti-homosexuality. Then, I had the startling insight to wonder what his actions were really doing to the LGBT community. And I remembered that oftentimes, when a person or a group of people fight against something, they actually help it along. So maybe, if he is gay, he's actually trying to help.

That is a possibility, extra publicity of any kind widens awareness.

The most damage will be in the younger people trying to come to terms with their sexuality, it's not fair that the people they should be able to go to for help are this unhelpful.

Sometimes I think the world would be better off without religion. What a beautiful thing we have created that can cause so much pain to so many...

Yeah, but without religion many people would lose hope. It gives people justification to live their lives well feeling that they will be rewarded. If not, many would simply be selfish living for themselves and taking and doing whatever they feel like. The problem is that too many people use religion as a tool to manipulate others into doing what they want by threatening damnation upon them.

I can definitely see where you're coming from. Wouldn't it be nice if we could keep the good parts of religion without having people misusing it for their own personal battles?

Personally, I happen to believe that we have the capacity to know what is right and wrong all on our own. Doing the right thing simply for fear of punishment in hell if you don't doesn't seem like the best motivator to me. Why not just do the right thing because it's the right thing to do?

People don't hurt other people because of their religion, they hurt them in the name of it. Even if all religion was abolished, people would still hurt other people. The worst crimes throughout history have been commited by the ignorant. The only way to ensure peace is through truth. Do you agree?

Maybe truth, knowledge and empathy. Though, I do think that religion has the capacity to give ignorant people a reason to be cruel when they might not otherwise have been
