Just wondering whether anyone has done a History degree?

Yeah its that time in life where I gotta make big choices and Im just wondering whether anyone has done a history degree and knows where I could go from for a career afterwards, basically looking for anyone who's actually gone and gotten a history related carreer as a result.
I want to go to University for the flexibility of the qualifications but I want to do something in Historical field. I'm told archaeology is super competitive but I don't think working in a museum is something I would mind in all honesty. Mmm god its annoying when the ONLY thing you're good at doesn't have much practical skills...

FA+

And you're not the only one that's grappled with this problem.

The article is right though. A lot of employers are looking to see if you are trainable. If you've already gone through the process and pain of sticking to college and actually getting a degree that well puts you in the running. A more specialized degree is only going to matter if you're going for a more technical field like engineering or medicine.
In any competitive field I don't think a single degree is going to get you much more than past the first cut. Unfortunately all of them are competitive lately. Good luck.
It's very, very debasing to me at least as an income but there's excellent money to be made as an on-call technician, plumber, electrician, any major 'trade'
Then use that money to do something you love like the fellows on TAPS do (Roto-Rooter/plumbing dayjob, ghosthunting hobby)
You can always try one of these, maybe you'll find a new interest and like it after all XD
