I said I'd make a post with some of the music that inspired this last piece because I like sharing music, and because I thought it was interesting how many different sources of inspiration found their way into this piece. Some of these will be obvious, others not so much.
All of this music is downloadable. It's yours, from me to you :3
KeiichiからKeiichiへ - Keiichi Suzuki
Whenever I want to experiment, I look to the eccentric musician behind much of the first two Mother games.
Just A Phase - Incubus
One of my favorite bands, their influence is pervasive throughout my music.
On the Way to the Club - Blur
Post-Gorillaz Blur is actually some really groovy stuff. I've been on a kick for a long, long time.
You Can't Take It With You - As Tall As Lions
For their last album, As Tall As Lions set out to make something revolutionary. If they failed to that end, they made one fuck of an album.
15 Step - Radiohead
Other than Incubus, no single band has had as much of an influence on me as Radiohead.
Strangers - Portishead
Portishead is my favorite trip hop band, and possibly the only music to which I could fuck.
Run Away - Linkin Park
While they aren't the most amazing band on God's green earth, Linkin Park is certainly underrated. They had a large influence on this song.
Rhinestone Eyes - Gorillaz
Damon Albarn described Plastic Beach as the most pop album he's ever created. If this is pop, then I'm excited, because this is some of the weirdest shit I've ever heard.
None Shall Pass - Aesop Rock
Aesop Rock is more than a rapper, he's a story-teller and a hell of a producer.
Bird Mask - Casey LaLonde
corbinbusker
I met this guy looking for submissions for Thumstruck. Hell of a musician and an interesting guy. New album coming soon. Give him a shout.
Without Me - Eminem
The only people who don't like Eminem a) hate rap. b) listen to Insane Clown Posse. In my experience, real hip hop lovers are generally in consensus that Eminem is a lyricist worth his salt.
We Looked Like Giants - Death Cab for Cutie
An intense song from Death Cab's emotional Transatlantacism. Ben Gibbard is a master of repetition and lyrical prowess. Also, sex and regret are a good mix for subject matter, and the breakdown is godly.
Morphine - Michael Jackson
No one seems to respect this artist's later works. His music from the 90's is my favorite from his discography. This is a strange, abrasive piece, with an amazing, morphine-inspired break at 2:45.
Session - Linkin Park
People tend to forget that Linkin Park did make some good music after Hybrid Theory. Case in point.
Black Milk - Massive Attack
The original trip-hop band. Always delicious.

Don't knock it until you try it :3
There are some extra songs worth hearing if you go to the parent directory of these songs.
Yours,
Buck
