The idea of doing something soley because it pisses off a group of people just bugs me.

You obviously don't know the reasons behind it. Long story short, Comedy Central self censored South Park, much to Trey and Matt's anger and dismay, after Revolution Muslim, an American based muslim blogsite of sorts, implicitly threatened violence and death because Mohammad was depicted in a bear suit (nevermind no one got angry after the Super Friends parody episode where he was drawn fully featured as a superhero with other major religious icons a few years ago). Then, we had the Danish cartoons that lead to such an uproar that literally people were killed over the outrage from much of Islam. Theo Van Gogh was brutally murdered by an extremist for his movie critical of Islam and its treatment of women. Now, these terrorists are winning, because they say, "We'll kill you if you practice free speech" and everyone is self censoring. This is 100% a free speech issue, and getting upset over it being "offensive" to a group of people is NOT a sufficient argument. The South Park episode in question had Buddha snorting cocaine, where's the outrage there? Quite ironic, don't you think? Can't even do a bear suit for Islam, but Buddha can snort cocaine.

Quite frankly, if moderate Muslims get offended by the protesters for their protest because it involves drawing their precious prophet, instead of being offended by the extremists who use their so called "religion of peace" as the world's greatest vehicle for rationalizing death and violence in history, then they are no better than the terrorists and assholes threatening death and violence. The silence from muslims against their extremist fringe (which seems far more mainstream than fringe in recent years) is deafening, and that they would then speak out against the protesters who are tired of their most basic and important of values is being threatened with death and violence means to me they actually support the terrorists. They should be supporting the protest, even if they respectfully denounce the method, because this is THEIR religion that is making claims that western culture and values are worthy of absolute destruction and THEIR religion that's been usurped as a means for murder.
