Proof that FA is Unique
I love this MySpace meme thing going on. Know why? Because it really just proves what I've been saying right along: FA is more than just art.
I've been watching these pics come through (some of which are hillarious) and watching who has been posting them. The vast majority are by people who by general standards I guess you would call "artists". A huge chunk of the remainder is from people who have their commission collection up (read as: the people who spend money on said artists). A very tiny portion of the meme pics are from people who have nothing up but pictures of their cats or what have you.
It just goes to show that even the artists and the supporters of said artists like having their fun and like hanging out in a "non-art" way. It's a community, not just a gallery, and a goodly number of the artistic community here recognizes that.
Anything that might happen that would put a damper on that fun sense of community for the sake of a few people who nobody looks at anyways because they act like idiots would be a shame.

It's seriously great for an overall esteem boost, showing that ya don't have to hide behind your Fursona, ya know?
cowards i say! show thyselves :O ... beside's i hate having to crank my neck sideways to read conbadges to hunt someone down ;p
This latest one's kind of a wierd ironic whiplash to the server room issues. It started off as a wierd joke, but the fact that MySpace is synonymous with the Net and pics, it unexpectedly took off, especially when
Me, I fuckin love it, though yeah, it can't be a normal thing of 'just' posting random RL pics. Moderation and fun's the key lol
*shakes head*
hehe, I have no idea who any of those people you posted are. XD
Oh, and
I just want to know if he OWNED the boa to begin with or what?
....Should I post another? :P
But yeah, I was surpised and I've saw many people revealing themselves, it was cool. ^^
I can't until I leave the station, and as it looks like I'm not going anywhere, it'll have to wait. :/
I don't deny my stuff Isn't hardcore yiff-a-licious stuff. Never has been, probably never will be... but, do you feel I bring something worthwhile to the table around here?
Can't believe I'm actually leaving myself this vulnerable like this. lol
Actually, if you'd rather not, you don't have to answer this anyways.
And, you know, as for the whole FA/DevArt comparison, I used to be hardcore pro FA over DA... these days, I'm no longer sure just exactly where I stand on that topic.
Probably not quite as pro FA as I once had been, But, ahh... nevermind. That's another matter altogether anyway.
I DO think you bring something to the table - I think everyone here does, and I think the answer to anyone bothered by anyone's posts here isn't to have them removed or made against the rules (as long as it's legal), it's to get in a good filtering system. I can understand people who don't want to see X or Y, but it's not going to kill them until filtering goes in. After that, THEN kick anyone who doesn't tag their stuff.
i know what you mean though, that's why I'm slowly taking down anything that isn't "community" work here and moving it to my site.
And, I don't think I've ever mentioned anywhere out here befores... there once was a time I was on MySpace.
But, I left there for 2 reasons...
1 - I felt lyke MySpace is kinda "poser central" over theres.
2 - I closed it down for the same reason I've left behind my SheezyArt page... I find when I try to take on too much at one time, I can't do as good a job as I would like to when it comes to paying equal attention to that many galleries at one time.
But then, under my 56K turtle bandwidth speeds, just basic navigating around anywhere in cyberspace feels like it takes eternity to the power of infinity sometimes. ^.^
Btw... It's good to be back... making my rounds out here once again in people's comment sections... acting the fool as always.
*Puts clown nose on Tenzee's face, and and squeezes it* HONK! (Nose makes honking sound). ^.^
I beep. :D
*beeps your nose* My bad. ^.^
and *prr* ^-^
and no idea what you tried to mean in your last sentence D:
There's been a lot of posts on similar communities about the art posted here, as well as people screaming to take off the people who can't draw. :/
*prr*'s back ^_^
then who the hell will leave comments & stuff? XD
watch out folks, hot buffalo on the way!
not hot all! XXXXD
*pets you* You know I'd say save that mug for Lynxie. ;)
you gonna be on later?

Here's someone who doesn't agree with it. XP
But as you are saying, the problem with this situation is not the number of people who abuse it, it's how they abuse it. The abusers are rarely content to just post a few screenshots. They just have post ten such personal random photo or screenshot pics in a row.
You can say it's just cause there's a lot of people here, but that's also the same all over the Net - you can always count on a handful of abusers causing an inordinate amount of trouble on just about any site, whether it's a forum or a "gallery", because that's just...sort of how the Net works. Then, when you finally start to do something about it all, they will claim to be the real victims.
But this is why we have rules to begin with... I think you have to draw the line somewhere in terms of quantities or excesses, which isn't the same as banning things any more than moderating a forum enough to avoid rampant trolling has to be about limiting free speech.
I don't claim to have any simple solution. But I will point out that, whenever content is an issue, there's going to be conflicting camps fighting for their opposing views of things. And each side will readily assert that this or that is what the community is "about". Each side will think it is totally in the right and always was. Sooner or later, this means war. And the most obnoxious kind of war too...a geek war! ^_^
I agree with you though; I know I'm not 100% right, and that's just it, is no one is 100% right. The main thing I have ever seen anyone complain about was "amount"; people hate flooding. I've seen just as many complaints about art floods as photo floods to be honest, but it's not "I can't BELIEVE that I have to see X pic" nearly as much as "I can't believe I have to see so many of X pic". That's why I support filters and flood control over content rules; anyone who wants to be annoying can be, but no one has to see it and they can't flood people stupid enough to fall for it. :D
I too am leaning more towards flood control lately rather than content restrictions. I kind of like how DA is open to all kinds of stuff format and media wise.
I'm reluctant to post a video to myspace that has subtitles in it b/c i am scared to use my voice.
Was fun learning how to do subtitles though. Hah.
I agree with the furry rl photos though.... still is tricky to get real life phones from some time to time, but usually if you toss yours their way, they usually get more open about sharing their own.
