Actress Jeri Ryan, seen in the short playing Sonya Blade, offered further comment about the project on Twitter.
"It's not a game trailer," Ryan said. "Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film." She said she had "No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was."

Maybe they didn't give an answer yet, but if it's on youtube already... who knows?

Youtube has been having way to many legal issues to hold that fact. If it goes then it will stay up. If not then another legal action will take it down from youtube.

The old MK movies were quite fun for their time and age, though the second one went over the top with special FX.
They just wanted too much. xD

Still, I really enjoyed those movies as Mortal Kombat TV series and the video games (well, MK2 that is... the rest is kinda meh). :3

Yea that part two, Shiva just yelled and jumped then POOF! Dead.
The centaur guy didn't look *right* cuz in the game he was all wicked cool looking.
The dragon was...well...odd looking to me with his sad puppy-dog cat eyes O.o
I agree, part two is the result of OVERDOING a good thing with FX.

I remember when the first MK movie came out, it was sooooooooooooo crowded!!!
When Scorpion showed up everyone in the audience yelled "GET OVER HERE!!!!"

Who does not love Scorpion anyways?
Through most of the games he's been my favorite character both for looks and as a character.
Still, they can't beat the good old Mortal Kombat 2 game. <___<

Its been a long time since I played the games, but I remember one of the MK series had a vid on there (after you beat the game with him, I think) with "Cooking with Scorpion"!!!
He wore a apron and everything!!!!

It sure does set the idea into a more realistic setting, but personally, I prefer the more fantasy like approach of the world, like in the previous movies.

Personally Reptile was always my favoruite character. Scorpion wasn't that far behind, but nothing could beat reptile and his moves in my eyes.

But I look at it from another angle. Everyone who knows Mortal Kombat, knows the characters and their backgrounds. They know who the bad guys are, they know who will win and who (may) die.

It's funny how they weaved in those typical words like "finish him" or "fatality". Just as how they explained the way the characters are. (Barakka a deranged doctor, Reptile having a rare disease,...)
Though nothing set in stone yet, I wouldn't mind seeing the director's new approach to an old theme.
Too much of the same gets boring.

I'm curious to see how they will exactly pull it through. Adding the fatality "habit" of Reptile for example was an interesting touch. Wonder how many MK fans will be touched by the realistic angle of the story, more so, how many MK characters will make their appearance in it.

Oh well, time will tell the results.

Eh...I dunno about this, I prefer the canon Mortal Kombat stories. This is definitely not canon.

Good old 2d gamestyle with 3d models.
I REALLY hope that they'll make the gameplay like MK2 or improve upon it... if so, that game is gonna be fucknig awesome. 8D

MK3 was my favorite by far, I bought UMK3 on the Xbox LIVE Arcade Marketplace and played it non-stop for god knows how long. The gameplay in the trailer reminded me a bit of MK vs DCU also (I actually really liked it because I'm also a huge DC fan.) and that was kind of like MK2/MK3 mixed as far as I noticed, so I imagine it will be.
