I think PSP is a pretty cool guy. Eh has some good games and doesn't afraid of anything.

okay me and PSP had a history... a bittersweet one...
I got my PSP on china it blows up.. literally a week after i got it... SONY killed the warranty so i hacked it back to life... and since then i basically used it for hacked gaming... and you know what it was kind of cool for that. i mean emulators, FF8 PSX ISO port for free... i actually used it many times as ebook reader and youtube player even before the ipodtouch and iphone

if you should buy one... well like every other console in the world its all about the soft and games... hacked PSP gets a lot of emulated games and even the ability to download games even if thats not all that "right".
An original one... well.. like i said it all depends on the games if its only for FF8 i would say no... dont buy it... just buy a PSX or a PS2 and play it there.

But really the PSP has a lot of good underrated games too its not that bad really like God Of War, Daxter, GTA City Stories franchise well a lot. so it does its a good console. but i kind of play my DS a lot more hehe XD

Yeh, it's this kinda response I was afraid of. I'd /love/ to have a copy of FF8 for myself on the PS1, but I dunno where I'd even start looking for it. That and if everything falls into place, I'll be doing a lot of travelling this year and the next, so a portable jRPG would be excellent for my needs, especially if it's one as time-consuming as HCbailly's let's play of it is leading me to believe.

And sure, maybe eventually down the road I'd pick up some other games, but for now it's just FF8 and a functioning used PSP that I want. :p

I hear that the PSP is excellent for hacking.
