It's still beyond boring.
USA VS GREAT BRITIAN! BIGGEST MATCH! BEST THING SINCE THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR! WILL BE AN EPIC BATTLE OF THE AGES!! That's what all newspapers were screaming.
The game? THE EPIC GAME OF AGES?

How do people even like this sport? I understand us as Americans figured out a while ago this "game" was absurdly boring, but... Hello? Rest of the world? You okay?
You sit there, for an hour and a half and watch a 1-1 tie? How does the WORLD CUP even allow ties? Ties have no place in competitve sports. That's one thing they need to do to fix soccer.. Another? Why is the field the size of Rhode Island State? Make the field smaller! more scoring will happen! It will be more exciting!

I tried to watch England vs USA and was literally bored to sleep after about 30 minutes -.-;
All i hear is "QQ, I didn't win!"
And honestly, stop crying because you Americans are too overweight to run the length of the field.
Also, they tied? Not surprised. These are the BEST of the BEST. Best Offense AND best Defense!
So in short, your newspapers are retarded, you have no idea what you're saying, and cry some more.

Secondly, I dont care what round this is in. It's boring. Boring in the semis.. Boring in the finals. Dont get all defensive cause football sucks.
I watch real sports. American Football and Baseball. Sports where stuff, you know, happens.

About the Tie thing.. this actual first part of the world cup its actually kind of a "commercial lie" in order to make the Worldcup itself a little longer. In other words this its the last stage of the preliminaries selections of teams. Ties happen because instead of being 2 teams playing against each other they are actually 4 in each group and the go by points on results of the matches, even ties have points. Once teams get over that first part things get truly competitive on the second stage, in which the loser gets out of the championship.
about the amount of goals i think thats set to discussion. anyway there does is a version of soccer that its on smaller field and 5on5 (which its the one i play most) and it does generates more goals. Yet The Professional one 12on12 its at a level that even a single goal its hard to achieve but the goal instances are kind of what count more.

First, there is nothing wrong with a tie unless you are in an one-on-one elimination round. Round-robins and group eliminations work just fine with ties.
Second, a tie does not mean a boring game. All it means is that the two teams scored equally. As a matter of fact, I find that a hard-fought tie is often more exciting than a blowout.
Third, shrinking the playing area actually tends to help the defence more than the offence. This is due to the higher player density generating more ability to block plays, while not actually increasing the ability to make them in the first place.[2]

[2] This is why American football added a fourth down, the smaller field resulted in constant punts and turnovers.

Honestly I know it's fun and all when youre young but thus far the only good soccer was Nintendo World Cup. (kinda like an early Shaolin Soccer) If only real soccer can use supper powered trick shots to blast other players out of the field.
Let's not make this about American or European. I'll tell you why I like Football and especially the World Cup.
Brazil vs North Korea DPR, first half no score and we're talking like Brazil is one of the top ten teams. North Korea is 105th out of 200 teams so this is supposed to be a cakewalk for Team Samba.
North Korea's got it together and they're making sure that Brazil isn't going to be scoring. Brazil is doing everything they can to score but its just not getting there. They're keeping North Korea out of the scoring too but without something there is no point for Team Samba.
Second half and its all on. Brazil isn't going to walk from this without at least getting in one goal and they didn't disappoint. Defender Maicon chased down the ball ten minutes into the second half. There seemed little danger as it rolled into the penalty area. Just as it was about to roll into the by line (this is basically what out is)
He struck the ball and it sailed forward looking like it was going to go past the goalkeeper so he didn't put too much effort into blocking it. Somehow this ball sailed just over the goalline into the net to give Brazil the 1 goal lead in the game.
Now I know describing it here sounds uninteresting to anyone who doesn't like Football but believe me this was a incredible goal. The excitement of the players and deafening support of the fans to me make Football an exciting event to watch.
When it gets to the round of 16 it will be even more exciting as eliminations will come quickly and I'm sure many surprised will happen. I'm personally expecting to see Spain get knocked out.
I'm not big into many sports. Football and Hockey, that's about it for me. I can't watch Baseball without drinking. American Football just doesn't catch my interest and I don't know I used to watch Basketball as kid with players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson playing but now it just doesn't seem that good anymore.
End of line.
And since the Vuvuzelas i hate it xD
Anyway, i think american football is much more fun, and i'm from europe ^^
Also, people who call it "soccer" suck.
