I'm not worried about them for three major reasons.

1.) It's not like they're a company set up and operating out of a third world country, they're based out of Quebec. Through Canada and the US, they ARE a registered corporation, so they are being held to rules and laws for business conduct.

2.) Any money you put into them is insured through FDIC and the Canadian equivalent, so, if they fuck up, collapse, loose your money, it's insured up to 100K in the US for it's return.

3.) Inkbunny isn't the only one using it, so does FA. Dragoneer, I trust, did some serious research into them before he swapped over and began entrusting FA funding with them. I may have my issues here and there with him, but him jumping without looking first is nowhere near one of them.

And I know the "convenience" of them kinda weirded me out a bit too, but in the money transfer business, isn't convenience of use for your customers something you'd want? Once I came to grips that they do nothing more than any bank or Western Union would do for WAY cheaper, it was easier to see them as what they actually were, honest business.

Yeah...I know what you mean...but the "convenience" that I was concerned about wasn't the customer side but just the possibility of dealing with people who can't use it because it would violate the TOS of paypal...that's the itchy part for me...I know it's as an alternative to people in other countries... had issues with paypal since money was being sent to south america via paypal accounts all over the world...i could see how that would raise red flags to paypal but since they didn't seem to investigate as to whether she was legit or not makes me poo-poo paypal.

Personally, I like the idea of them doing business with a variety of different nationalities, even handling the currency exchanges during the transfer of funds. NO more do you have to worry about your bank screwing you(as they do in a number of countries), because AlertPay is using the currency exchange market rates in what they do.

I'm tempted to set up an account just to see everything you can do with it. Honestly, if they do even half of what I found in my research, these guys will be beating PayPal's ass within five years.

that maybe true...I'm just a coward...I like the path to be well paved before I try to use it...if they have been around for three years I probably wouldn't hear about em...the first year or so is just trying to get people to join which would only give them about a year and a half of serious transactions...that's not the deathnote of the site but just that it's young and still growing... it does sound more legit now but I'll wait till some of these FA artists sell a few prints....it maybe the combo of inkbunny and alertpay that keeps me away from this new shiny thing distracting all of FA...

You'd be surprised. While he is usually pretty busy and it can take him a couple of days to get back to you, he does answer all of his notes, no matter what they're about.

And he's really personable too, I enjoy chit chatting with him when I get the opportunity.

Also uses alertpay now, and can only use alertpay sadly =(

Now that I think about it, it does feel like that. But I haven't tryed it yet. So if something screws me over thru that site I let you know.

well...right now, if you're only selling prints thru inkbunny, getting screwed would be selling prints but never receiving the profits...that risk I'm willing to take since you still own the original and can just close the account...WORST CASE SCENARIO is a shady business now has your banking information (not that I have much money in mine anyways...but I'd like to keep my $13.72 savings thank you!)

I would sell prints if I had any to sell. But I set an alter pay account to try it out. Also to help someone answer a few questions

Even though I haven't put myself into that whole Inkbunny thing, I must admit that what you are telling sounds wrong. A thing that have been up for 3 years, I haven't heard of it either, though I've been traveling the net with a friend of mine to find some stuff, and we've never come across alertpay. It seems like something that may just have popped out of nowhere? Also I agree with you that it's so convenient that it's just something you can still pay with, that paypal wont accept.
I don't think you are being dramatical, I think you are being realistic. Thats my point of view.

I got the "three year" number from a few sites that reviewed alertpay...claiming to have millions of members too...but yeah...I never heard about it til inkbunny...

*serious thoughts* Alertpay is just another site like paypal but the reason that Alertpay isn't more well known or widely used is because it's not out there like paypal. You can't go swinging a dead cat without hitting a site that has a paypal button on it.. can we say the same for Alertpay? I think not. Also if Alertpay is such a great deal how come furry sites like Rabbit Valley aren't using them.. hmmmm?

I think the big thing is AlertPay simply doesn't have the marketing or size that PayPal does. I've also heard some people say the fees are higher, though I've heard others say the opposite. I'd have to say those two combined kind of keep it from being as well known. I think the problem when it comes to fees is PayPal doesn't tell you exactly what they are until you pay, so you know it's somewhere in some range, but can't compare it to other sites 1:1.

Also, I know  wovstah has been using it since before InkBunny for adult commissions.

The fees are higher, unfortunately, probably in part because the business is smaller and the proportion of chargebacks for the types of business involved is larger (I hear they're even higher for "certain industries").
