You have a point there Foux. I always try, even though I'm late due to ISP problems: to respond to everyone... I still have a note to reply to speaking of which. A simple: "Sorry but I'm busy." Wouldn't be too hard would it? I mean, some forget that it's due to people actually buying their stuff, that they even have a job to begin with. Some like Max Blackrabbit are honest, he always says he's terrible at replying to emails and he's got commissions from here to 2010... but at least you know where you stand. Ignorance I cannot abide, I was raised to reply to people, no matter what they do to you... even if you don't like them. I like you so that's not to you lol just surmising hehe. Foux, the best thing you can do is just to not waste your time. Your money will be better spent elsewhere, although you're a talented artist yourself... why not take commissions for yourself?

yeah im not saying comments like that tho, I mean I asked about getting a commission, possibly payment you know, like hey this is my character and this is what i want how much would you charge me?, who the fuck turns that shit down with no response, it was really lame and honestly i think its because the artist i asked doesn't seem to draw females at all, all his artwork is males, ive only seen one female and it was a small image and not very impressive, so i guess thats why hes ignoring me, afraid to admit he only does male artwork.

I love when people write to me. I always at least TRY to respond to everyone who takes time to post me a message. But sometimes I fall behind and just can't, be it because of work or family time or what have you. I'm sure there are plenty of artists out there who think they're too fancy to write back to their fans, but I think there are just as many who mean well but can't write to everyone. Suppose it depends upon circumstances, and the personal quality of the individual. <3

I asked an artist something once about SL through a note. Never got a response. It annoyed me too. I mean, I'm personally guilty of being lousy at responding to notes, but I don't ignore them.

Some artists post a message once, and in it say they won't even respond to questions about the subject because they were getting too stressed about it, others expect you to find previous postings of the info.
It's a sad but true state of afairs, but it happens. I've gotten asked about commisions myself, but have to tell folks I do requests I get to in my own damn sweet time, but no commisions. My art sucks. ^_^;

Meh, I know what you mean. Sometimes things like that upset me as well. I try not to get all worked up because of stuff like that. And there's always the possibility that even if their art was really bad and you asked them a question... They might still not answer. You never know about people.

Seem most have the same thoughs as to replying.. Myself, I have a site for my Stories and I reply to ALL comments sent to me. The way I see it is if that take the time to leave or send me a comment, I better make the time to respond. Sorry to hear that someone doesnt believe the same.. But I hope U have a great day otherwise.

Oh I deal with this constantly.. funny thing is you gotta pitty them. They might be really popular here on the interweb but in RL, they are probably nobodies living off welfare and commissions XD well not all of them.
I been waiting for a reply on a commission I had payed in full on.. (I won't say how much, but it was alot of cash) its been over a year and he hasn't responded recently. Or people who owe you art and just blow you off cause they don't think you're important enough to draw in return.

I hope it's not me, but I know I'm slow as HELL and fully admit it when it comes to replying to stuff not because I'm ignoring it but because I get a lot of stuff to have to reply to. My e-mail inbox isn't normal if there aren't over 100 mesages from months past in it.

I know a lot of artists are good people, they just get swamped, and even with a lot of continuous comments they still forget. Still, common sense says it's best to answer them as you get them, and that many modes of contact with no response is a bit fishy :/

I hate when you go and look at someone's art, and favourite all the neat stuff but then they don't even say thanks, or they say thanks but don't check out your art.

I'm pretty sure I've done that at least once or twice and the reason I don't answer is from procrastinating alot, or simply being too stuck on how to respond that I don't end up responding at all.

Granted, it's rarely, if ever, for people asking for commissions, as those are fairly rare for me for some reason (well, no, reason for that is someplace between "I suck", "I'm way too slow for my liking in terms of finishing stuff" and "probably not worth it money-wise", but I digress). Those I DO try to go the extra mile to try and pay attention to, even if it means sacrificing sleep time to finish responding to an AIM post or similar. With people keeping tabs on my progress, I always try to keep informed and connected with 'em, maybe toss them a wip any now and then to keep them up to date...OTOH, I also have a bad habit on putting them on temp ignore when I am honestly stuck artistically or simply cannot talk to people at the time for whatever reason...

I think it just depends. I have people showing me every scribble going CRITIQUE please where there is a certain point where, well you gotta learn on your own. A scribble everyday and demanding a critique is ridiculous. I mean it's good to get feedback to learn but I can't critique day to day progress equally.

I don't mind helping but sometimes people are a little too demanding like my opinion matters than learning too. I'm happy to help but I'm one opinion of many.

But lol at someone turning down a commission, who knows maybe they want to give you a more considerate response and respect your work, and aren't exactly ignoring you, but getting back to you later?

That's harsh, but I understand what you mean. I mean, the first time I did a commission, I didn't understand everything and this person had a really weird way of setting up their commissions, so I admit I was asking a lot of questions, but I mean...she just up and stopped responding to me, even though I was dishing out 60+ dollars, and then I told her I wanted to pay more, but she didn't even respond.

So yeah. Egos are not good on artists. Especially with new people.

I get that allot at times too. It's unsettling.

It's sad really, because those people would be nothing without the people that watch/comment/commission/etc... Yet they can't even give the slightest bit of effort or gratitude back to the people that have made them who they are.

This is why I always admire skill second to personality, and I believe worshiping those people puts you on a lower level then the artist themselves.

I rather coldly take pleasure in seeing those conceited artists' defeats in life though... I can name a few off the top of my head. *smirk* I know I can be a jerk at times, but all I've ever ask of a person it to just be a decent human being.

Anyways, just don't let it get to you. You don't want what they got anyways... What are the odds of them caring about your actual commission when they could care less about yourself? Don't jip yourself like that.

Do you really think that's their reason, that they think they're too good or too busy? Nobody can read anyone's mind. If said artist were to come here and read this, how would you know that it's not going to hurt their feelings because the actual reason is that they were just being absentminded?

I know their not going to come and read it because I've given them long enough to read my comments/notes on their own page so i know they hella won't take the time to come to my page if they aren't even willing to respond to what i was asking they obviously have chosen to ignore my notes and comments on their page about possible commission 9which is pretty crazy if you ask me, since it's HELLO MONEY IN THE BANK) so i could careless if they come and read it, they did it to themselves by not even sending a "i'm busy" or "I'll get back to you" response. They keep posting new artwork and answer other peoples compliments and yet I still go unanswered with nothing, no clue. I really don't care if they are hurt because they already hurt me, think of it as eye for an eye, and they've lost money..so whatever. I'm not saying that is what the artist was thinking "I'm too good to respond to you" I know most artists aren't like that, and yes MOST artists will at least get back to you at least after a month or so and say hey i was busy but it seems like that isn't happening to me, like they really don't give a fuckin shit to even say oops missed your notes, missed your comments but thats hard to believe since i sent more then a few to the person and comments like right after mine were answered, the whole "I'm too good for you" it just seemed like a good title

Hi remember the some of these artists have like 2000+ viewers and when even 10% of them say something that still 200 replies a day. Then there are people who are only on for the porn and Fav you work or watch you so when they can see your next work. Also remember that some of the artists update weekly, so that’s at least 2400 posts at once and with the nuke button they just clean the space out. It's not nice but when 9 out of 10 posts are dude that’s hot/ cure/ neat / I want to fuck it's eyes out, I can't blame them for dumping that all. Unfortunately the 1 in 10 good posts go with it.

lol Sometimes I read comments and then forget to respond. =( like I'll open the window, and then say to myself "Hm, gotta think about a way to respond", exit the window, and then it's just like.. gone from my mind. xX It may be that some of the other artists are just forgetful, too.

i try to look at the effort of the art, not the quality. its not like because someone draws better means they're smarter, prettier, or a better person. people sucking up to the popular ones piss me the fuck off. sorry you had to go through someone ignoring like that. :x

My favourite artists are those with quality work and quality personalities. It really takes away something when an artist is too cold or distant. (Of course we all have lives and can get busy but blatantly ignoring someone is just plain rude. Especially when they're trying to offer you $$ for doing something you love. Sheesh!)

I understand that fully and such. Its like "hey i just wanted to know? Why won't you tell me?" They suck for that, but whatever, they can sit on their high horses and bask in the light all they want. Your a great artist and i wish i could do some of the colorings and such that you do. its just out right rude tho, i'll agree with all of that.
