Foyer was a nice central place. The outside up front near the entrence may be a good meetup point next year.

Yea was sad, I asked one of the staff where the foyer was and he was like "....i think that way?" Which was totally the opposite way of where it was when I found it later XD

I like the idea of a Panel for those two topics, I know I would personally attend it, even though at the moment I'm not financially capable of affording to make my Fursuit...but I've got a redneck style of doing it...once I get the hang of crocheting with fuzzy yarn, to just make up fuzzy yarn crocheted arm sleeves, paws, ears and my tail just for the heck of it.

And you never know, there might be some Cosplayers at the Con. that might be interested in how to better Cosplay as the better known characters like the Nine Tailed Fox (Kyuubi) of Naruto to other various Anthromorphic in nature like Cosplay Characters so that they can make their Cosplay a little better. I'd love to see the Panels you've mentioned being mentioned in the Conbook

I had fun meeting with all of ya. ^_^ I was the one who took my laptop out, showed images of my character (which can be seen in my gallery) and showed Fallout 3 stuff, maily the starfox racemod and whatnot

I totally enjoyed myself, I remember running into you, Milo in the Artist Alley/Dealer's Hall and finding out that you were holding this Meet Up that afternoon...I was on Cloud 9 the rest of the day even after meeting up w/some friends of mine that had come all the way from FL and some that were locals. And getting to hang around the Fur Meet Up even w/o a Fursuit and just taking snap shots made it worth it to me to be at the Con. that year.
My only reasons for going to the Con. mostly each year, even if its for a Day, is to hang w/a friend of mine from FL that I hold near and dear to my heart, that is like a little sister to me, and finding out there was a Fur Meet Up that wasn't even listed as part of the Gatherings listings on Cosplay.com 's Forum just made the Convention that even more enjoyable w/my friends willing to let me spazz over running into fellow SoCal Furs ^^

I agree that in a way, we should meet up in the same spot we were this year, or at least try and gain a Room that would be used for Panels as a room to simply Meet Up in because I know that Cosplay.com held a Room for a Meet Up of their own during the same day as the Fur Meet Up you hosted. If a Fur Meet Up was set up in a Room itself, it would probably make it EASIER for Furs that want to attend to find the Group and enjoy the Meet Up compared to those who may have missed it this year. Working with Staffers at the Con. can make things more smoother regarding setting up a way for other Furs to hang out and Meet Up.

In regards to incorporating Furries into the Con., its kind of half and half there because there are a number of individuals who dress up as Cat/Fox girls/boys, because its a simple outfit that is well known in the Community of Cosplay. And I don't know if I'm talking out of turn by saying this, but, in a way, I don't know if any others would consider individuals such as dressing up with Cat/Fox Ears/Tails would be like considering themselves Furries as well? Or just a knock off of the actual Fandom?
I know some Furs might have other feelings about Furries incorporating into the Con. for Anime/Japanese Animation, and there are some Cosplayers that may assume it to be a flood of a Fandom into a Con. where most people tend to dress in Costumes made from Fabric.

But that's just how I view it as it is, being that I'm a Cosplayer at heart, but that heart is made of Fur.

I'm very glad to hear that you throughly enjoyed yourself at my meetup. I consider it an honer to brighten someone's con experience :)

as far as next year, I'm going to try to work out soemthign with the staff -just to see what I can/can't do.. the last thing that I want to do is have a bunch of furries flood AX and change the definition of that con just because AX is one of the biggest Anime cons out here. one problem that i slightly fear is the 'culture shock' and 'b-tards' that lurk around these cons (considering that anime cons have a 4-1 ration of guys to girls and 90% are straight and slightly colosemineded at that) and I would hate for first time suiters or simply people who participate to be harassed/ridiculed/called out.,, or even the slight chance of having a group of extremists come at our suiters. Safety is a major concern to me..

In a short year we shall see where everything stands, and as time grows near, I'll post my updated on what is going to happen.. but like i said, if things seem too risky, I do not want to be the one accountable for misconduct. And even afterwards, now that the first actual furmeet has set out in AX, others will more than likely try to start their own if I'm not willing to carry out another..

I completely understand about being worried for the safety of the Suiters at the Con., t here are some Con. goers that can be truly harsh, even towards one anothers when it comes to thing other then Fursuiters. Drama follows Con.'s like the plague.

With regards to the worry about a flood of Furs to AX next year, I would say, just maybe keep the idea and word out about a Meet Up for Furries to seeminly small message boards or Groups that don't really associate that much with the Anime Con. itself. That'll keep, hopefully, the flood from overflowing the Con.
I personally would hate to see Furries having to go out of their way to attend a Fur Meet Up on One Day of an Anime Convention when the cost for even a day of the Con. can be the price of a Con. Badge for a Full Experience at a Furry Con. ...I'm not saying I know the full cost of attending Furry Con.'s, but I poke around them to check 'em out if I ever get up the chance to check out the local ones here in Southern CA.

Generally Furries tend to be welcomed without issue, but, as it is, there is liable to that one small handful of retards out there with their big mouths that try and start something that causes an uproar and ruins the Con. for everyone else. Which creates a chain reaction of people going, "Don't attend (insert Con. here.) Furries invaded and about destroyed it w/their Drama." which no one wants.

On the other side of it all, for next year's Conventions...if I can make it to more then AX 2011, I'm thinking of maybe trying to set up a small meet up at Anime Los Angeles in Jan. 2011 on the day I plan on coming down. If my funds and work schedule allow it, just to kind of shake the Furry Tree for the start of the year and see if any Furs fall out of it and haunt Anime Con.'s before the CA Con. of Further Confusion hits.

And even possibly trying set one up for Fanime 2011 if I can swing doing Fanime as well a couple or so months before AX...if other things down arise before then. Mostly they would to promote that both Furries and Cosplayers can cohabitat in the SAME Con. w/o drama.
