The last of the trip
Well, I'm back home. I have been since yesterday actually.
The last two days of my trip were easily better than the first. Just vegged out for most of the 4th, though I did take a trip down to the lake to get some photos. I haven't been to that lake in years now, but I spent a lot of time there during high school. Snapped some pictures, and took the time to think while I didn't have anything else to distract me. It was time well spent.
Got back to the house after that and then headed down to the park. There was a BBQ going with free dogs and burgers. You really can't turn that one down. It was blazing hot that day, so I didn't take my suit down. I probably should have though, it would have been a blast to wander around at that time. Lots of people, and kids everywhere to entertain.
Hung around until dark, and then drove south of town a ways to get a good view of the fireworks. That was depressing. The show lasted less than 20 minutes, and most of that was spent waiting for the next shot. The finale was exciting, but there was literally nothing before that.
There was a storm in the background though, and it was putting on a very nice light show for us. I started taking pictures of the lightning and the rain instead of watching the fireworks after a while. It was just more entertaining.
Hung out with my brother after that, and it got crazy like we always do. We ended up in an epic battle with mortar grenades, ladybugs, and firecrackers. We can't be left unsupervised...ever. Things never stay calm when that happens. It was a lot of fun though, and I would do it all over again in a heart beat.
My brother took off with some of his friends, and I chilled with my dad for another hour or so before I crashed for the night.
Got up early the next morning, rounded up my stuff and got back on the road. I ended up driving in and out of rain all the way across the state, but that's alright. I've been doing it for a lot of years, and I honestly <3 it. Got home and seriously vegged the rest of the night.
A perfect end to a great trip.

Glad you enjoyed your 4th of July! Mine wasn't too interesting, ate some good food though.

OP
Sometimes the food alone is totally worth it.
