I think you overdid it. The primary idea should be that your viewers can view and enjoy your photos. Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense to upload them at all, would it? Thus, watermarking should be non-intrusive - visible for sure, but it shouldn't stand out that blatantly.

I'd make the opacity way lower, so that a slight change in brightness is still visible and thus it's possible to read your watermark (and equally impossible to throw it out), but not hide half of the image in darkness.

I understand what you're saying, but I still don't wanna take the risk. I'm proud of my photos (Even though they're not the best! ), but if someone wants the full size image, I'll happily send it to them if I know they're not going to claim it as their own

My point is: as a casual viewer (who just happened to stumple upon your journal) I don't want to steal your photos nor do I want high-resolution versions of them - I do want to have a clear view on the normal sized photo, though. And your heavy watermarking makes mere looking at them not fun, so I don't do it. So, there - I'll avoid looking at (submission) what you're proud of (photo) because I think it's ugly (complete image). So that's the risk you're taking.

Do as you want, I'll probably forget about this soon anyway, it was meant just as a short driveby-advice.

All it takes is 10 minutes in a paint program to remove that stupid watermark if they want to steal them. Especially since this is a bloody community of artists. Every second person where knows how to use Photoshop! So all you're doing is hampering all the honest ones who just want to look at pretty pictures.

Meh, I didn't mean any harm by it. It's just there as a deterrant Feel free to ask me for the full size images if you want them, I'd be more than happy to share them with some people. You're one that I'd trust not to steal it ^_^
