My characters are currently taking about 28 seconds to render without fur. When I put fur on, that goes up to around 12 minutes! Why do I have to have a boner for furries?!! Why?!!!?!!

Apart from the fact that you'd need a dragon to commission and pay you XD
You could try drawing animals that generally don't have fur, or that much fur, so you could make it look smooth :P
I'm surprised it's the only image tagged "horrible realisation", though.
