Some really retarded news today...

So, I was notified by a friend that some beavers in Red Deer (where I live) are going to be trapped and killed. Why?
Because some beavers were in a park that happens to be an offleash dog park with a river bank and tons of trees. Perfect for a beaver, no? Yet, some owners did not keep their dogs on their leash when they encountered these beavers and allowed for the dogs to chase after them. The beaver did what was necessary for its survival and defended itself by attacking the dog when the beaver felt threatened. One dog died from blood loss and another had stitches, and now Red Deer is planning to kill the "aggressive" beaver(s).
Seriously? The Park's Superintendant Trevor Poth acknowledged that "beavers are usually not aggressive unless threatened by other animals" but "because of the gravity of the incidents, the beavers will be trapped and killed".
Good job. These owners let their dogs chase after some wild animals and you are going to kill these beavers for acting on a most basic instinct? At least re-locate the damn beavers or inform the public to keep their dogs on a leash when they encounter wildlife. There is no need for killing them. FFS!

So what happened? The animal control hunted down and killed the bears. It's hardly fair that an animal should die because of other people's stupidity.
Now here for the opinion. These people are so interested in learning about the food chain and their place in nature, let them suffer the consequences. Leave the animals alone.
