Mr Marmalade update - UPDATE

Oh noes, an opinione! He's started to go into his happy chrysalis!
At first I thought he might've popped it but after carefully tipping him out I saw that gasp, dark brown chrysalis!
I gently picked him up to put him back in the jar and IT TWITCHED ABOUT AND SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH.
I wasn't aware they could do that.
Aaaagh.
Also SO EXCITED.
I have popped him in a layer of slug pellet free potting material from one of the hanging baskets and in a different container. I'm going to pop him in the garage once it starts getting cooler and next spring I'll have to get him out!

FA+

Though I'll have to wait until next year before I get a hawkmoth!
Oooh I wish we got luna moths here. I do love what we have, though.
Can't wait until next spring!
Can't wait to see if I was right about him being an eyed hawkmoth, they look so pretty!
And good luck with you and your mothies :D
Thanks! I'm sorta sad that I'm gonna hafta let some of them go fend for themselves in the wild when they start to hatch.. but I don't think I can take care of 150 little caterpillars at once. *fallover*
Or she.
I dunno how one sexes caterpillars...or chrysalises...
