Your Style
You know, FA coders, if you append like a "?v=2" to the end of the stylesheet reference links in the HTML, and increment the number each time you make a change, nobody would need to shift-reload to see the style changes. Sames goes for JS, images and other includes, too. AND it would all still cache efficiently! Not making your users do legwork? It's a good thing!
I'm very glad there isn't a tiny left side column anymore. But now the page starts like halfway down the page. Those menus up there could look better, be more functional, and be more compact all at once. The whole header doesn't need to be taller than just the title image.
And those ads. First thing on the user page? How about between the user info and the features/journals? You know, give us a taste of content before hitting us with the spam, at least.

The future of FA.
That's not a fixed-width format, is it? *sideways glance at InkBunny*
That's not a fixed-length penis, is it?
...other then that, i'm not dissapointed atm. It's a good job, but nothing special. Thanks for the hard work anyway, FA designers/coders/etc...
But yeah, a step in the right direction, mostly.
Forced? Yup.
Convinient? Nope.
Makes you look at ads? Yup.
Will ads annoy you? Nope.
Downsides and upsides aren't in ballance...but it could be grown into something, if the system doesen't became like a WoW farming for "tickets"...The main goal would be, that the ads are only visible, when you want it, but you are forced to look at them at least once /week, which would only take like less then 2 mins...that's tolerable for those who are tired of ads. Forced to look at ads for 2 mins then be ad-less for a week, sound a sweet deal to me...to bad, that the sheer purpose of adds are the constant bugging.
Goddamn NanI change yer creepy Icon already!!
It's way better than what Google did to Image Search, at least.
