One Day at a Time
Read Matthew 6:25-34
Ooooo, I found a video for this one!
Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
-Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
I have been battling cancer for over a year now, hoping the spots on my liver would be gone or at least reduced in size. My latest CAT scan revealed that the spots had neither shrunk nor grown. I am thankful that my condition is stable.
I am learning to live one day at a time, which has never been easy for me. My brother once dubbed me "Mr. Five-Year Plan." Now I find it hard to look ahead five days.
Yet I am blessed. People pray for me, provide financial help, and encourage me. While I need to budget my energy, I still work at a day job and also keep active with my work as an actor and writer. Some people say they're amazed at all I do.
But I know I keep going only by the grace of God. I knew from the beginning I couldn't do it alone, that I would need to rely on God to be my healer and provider. El Shaddai, one of the Hebrew names for God, means "the all-sufficient God,"the God of more than enough. By trusting that God is enough, I can take life one day at a time.
